    header

Overall, I like the design. You mention the client wanted a grunge look and I think you nailed that aspect. I think if you wanted a little bit of a Hawaiian influence in the site you could use the header area where the people are. If you could incorporate some images of the church, Hawaiian elements, etc. in the header background I think it would come across as more of a church website. (large cross, etc.)

Besides the word "god" in the banner this site doesn't really tell me what it is quickly. In addition, the red star looks good to me but it needs different language..."I am new here", doesn't really encourage me to do anything, you have my attention, now what do you want me to do?, I hope that makes sense? Finally, one person mentioned that the site is really busy and if your client is anything like mine they want to include everything under the sun so getting everything in can be a challenge. The site is busy, but to me it looks ok. If you forced me the "blogs" section under the welcome message is the item that really bothers me because it breaks up the flow of the site content. I hope my comments were helpful, I think you did a good job, just needs some tweeks :)

      • Thanks for your feedback!

I know it's kind of odd, I myself didn't want to design a church website in such a "messy" and grungy way, but that was the main request from the client so I had to follow. In fact, there were some palm trees popping in the header background before and for my mistake, they were gone when I applied the family picture. That was already fixed.

The word "God" was also requested by the client. Apparently their slogan is: "Loving God, loving people, loving life". That doesn't make me think of church at all, but I'm not gonna suggest that now. I wanted to put some picture from the church but they don't have it (all they sent was a bunch of not-related pictures, some with terrible quality). They did say that they wanted to add some text from the Bible over there, so I'm waiting for that.

I totally agree with you regarding the red start. That was my idea actually, they never asked for anything like that. I just put that in there after researching the web for church's websites and I found out that it was a very common element. But most of them are just like that, they don't self-explain themselves and I created that more because it would look cool than for usability reasons (my mistake again!). For now, I'm thinking of replacing that star with some sort of player where users can listen to the sermons (a quick link to the podcast section).

The site still looks a little too busy but trust me, it was worse before, this is the lighter version :)

Thanks a lot for your feedback, it was very constructive!

      slider area

Overall, Love the design...especially the fonts you have used and the combination of those fonts. It has a creative fun vibe, and is easy to see what you have going on. My only suggestion would be to make the slider area in the middle a little smaller so it fits within the cloud area, It is just overwhelming all the great design you have put into the design. Like I said, great job!

        cardboard

Personally, I like the 2nd design the best and I really enjoy the creativity of the overall design. With that being said, the cardboard background, even though I like it personally (might work better in a different project), doesn't really reflect the technology/ robotic presence you are trying to create. I envision a background with a more technical look. (software code, diagrams, etc.)

In addition, I think the live chat takes up a lot of space, perhaps moving the testimonials to the footer, move the chat box (smaller) to the left and then showing some work examples, a something more tangible. Just ideas, good luck!

          Too much empty space

Overall I like the design you have going, I like the colors, the building and how the information is laid out. The only thing that is bothering me is the big empty space to the top left of the building. I think I understand that you are looking for it to be very clean, but it still bothers me. Perhaps, a see through background with a brief catch message to attract the viewer? Since the building is vertical it could be a more vertical box? Just my thoughts, like I said I like the design, good job!

              icons?

I really like the design, My only suggestion would be to add icons or something to that effect next to the middle section titles, i.e Corporate Design, I think it would really help the sections stand out a little more. Overall...great design, I really like it and I really like the top section and logo. Great job

                more color

I really like the background of the site, very sleek and attractive. I like the top of half of the mockup, especially the monitor with the swirl, but the middle section with the gray bar where you mention clients, expertise and from our desk seems to be lacking, as far as the rest of the site is concerned. Perhaps a little more color in the icons next to the words?, or more textured background?, I just think the rest of site looks really good and that part looks a little bland. Overall...A good mockup

                  softer font

Overall...I really like the design, I like the changes you have made so far as well by making it softer with more color. The two things that I could be nit-picky about is; you could lose the saucer which someone mentioned as well, and the font could be a softer font, but still have the "k" have a swoop. I really like the design, but that's my $0.02 - good job!

                    • Concept: Accounting small business website

                      design elements

I couldn't help feel that the design is fighting itself a little. What I mean is that, you have a relaxed look with the tilted buttons and the sticky note, then a curvy line and the elements don't fit very well together. I personally like the tilted buttons, and the sticky note so maybe diving full into that aspect would work better. I like the clock logo, but I am unsure about the "T & A" Maybe I am missing something, but I don't see what they mean?, ...Overall, the site looks good, but it really doesn't push me to contact the company . I think some contact info in the top right may help with that. Good job and I look forward to more

I really like the logo, I love the little circles for the hands and feet. I don't care for the font used very much though . Maybe something a bit more "space oriented looking" or "sleeker". Very cool logo, I really like it!

                          small layout changes

Overall..I like how the site looks, One thing you may want to think about is the placement of the picture box (JQuery looking box) and the statement about what the Alberta Sport Development Centre is and what they are trying to do. (At the bottom above the footer) I think by moving that statement up under the main navigation bar, the visitor could quickly identify what the site is about. Just my opinion :) One other quick thing, since it appears the site would deal with multiple sports, perhaps more of a montage banner with different sports elements instead of just a swimming photo? Everything else looks like a good start, good job
