    What do they do?

Posted on May 05, 2010 at 10:06 AM

I don't get an immediate knowledge of what they do. Beautiful whitespace, and great imagery for engagement!

Really like this! Simple, clean, eye-catching and understandable at first glance.

    alignment, branding

Posted on Oct 21, 2009 at 9:03 AM

As stated before, I think working on a more consistent grid would help this layout a lot. Otherwise, I think it's clean as far as having a hierarchy. The header could be more interesting and related to the topic.

Adult, Student, Children could be richer

I also think the site would benefit with a little more grounding in the footer, with links that are accessible when scrolling down on high content pages. My initial feeling is that the main navigation should be repeated at the bottom, and also put in the header with the Adult, Student and Children links/graphics highlighting to representing the current page. Nice design!

    Consistent Elements

Posted on Oct 20, 2009 at 1:16 PM

I agree with others in that it is a bit difficult to gauge these different "areas" without seeing how it works together. So, judging from these images my immediate need is consistent elements to help navigate around and back. It's an elaborate piece, for sure, great job with all of the imagery and environments.

    Typography

Typography needs work. Like the colors and concept. Contact info could stand out more than "registering now" - it's more important to remember the website info.

Thanks Danelle. Actually, you can't register on the website, (it's by mail-in/ fax registration). And using the old AIDA formula, I'm looking for the action to be "Register Now", not "go see the website".

In that case, I would switch the website and phone number, and make the phone number stand out, with Register Now secondary in size, but also in red.

    #5

I think #5 has a modern, yet retro feel to it - if that makes sense. I also agree with making sure a black and white version of this. Going back to basics could also help you decide on the best color version to use. Great concept!

    Header Images

Posted on Oct 20, 2009 at 12:49 PM

Overall like the design, the header images could have more of a unified look site-wide while still specifying each page. The type treatment on them could use some work or downplay - there is too many typefaces between them all.

    Hierarchy

Same as the others said - more call to action and hierarchy within content.

    More Hierarchy

Posted on Oct 20, 2009 at 12:30 PM

I think you've done a good job laying out a lot of information, but if there was more weight to certain parts it would help the eye see more of a hierarchy. Try pulling out some action items, and using colors or larger text at those parts. great start, solid.
