I know about the color red in Chinese culture, I built their website using red as the primary color. I even had the first design of this menu using red, but my client actually chose and prefers to use earth-tones instead.

Or you can try adding gold looking trim around the main title area with oriental pattern. Hope that helps to bring up the front page a little more interesting. :)

Maybe a few red highlight elements here and there would do the job, not necessarily turning the whole menu bright red.
