Your target audience are students and this looks very young like primary school.
I would try and convince my client to ditch the rainbow, sun and cloud and the cartoony graphics and then maybe work on one horse graphic to go where the rainbow is, but in a much more grown up style. Then use colours in the background to indicate the weather/ sweden. Say blue where you have the dark grey flower pattern to indicate the flag and rain and pale yellow where you have the light grey, which will make you icons have better contrast and will represent sun and the yellow from the flag.
You can always show the client the advice you've been given here.
I do really like the icons on the right and your box borders. Although some of the content is escaping the borders.
There is a lot of underlining, should only be where there is a link.
