I like the textured one better. The depth is fantastic.
My instinct though it to even up the tops and bottoms. But logic tells me that kills the perspective. And the perspective is more important I think.
I'm not sure why everyone is worked up about whether or not it looks like a literal "bd". This is a logo mark. It stands on its own. It's nice that it was inspired by "bd", but who cares if it looks specifically like "bd"? Many logo marks seemingly have nothing to do with the company name. It's strong, engaging, memorable. Just add a well-designed company name to your mark and you are golden.

I like your point of view. I agree a logo mark doesn't have to look like a literal interpretation of the company name or a part of it; but it sure helps!
I tried to make the logo in a proper 3D program, but I couldn't get the look right, so I'm going to keep it this way.
