Overall this site looks great. It's fun, is engaging, has personality and the illustration works really well.

    • It would be nice if there was an 'about' section. I want to know more about why a company would want to spend so many hours a week doing redesigns for people for fun/free. Also is the coding included or are photoshop psd documents supplied or just jpegs? An FAQ would be helpful too.

    • As far as the design goes the logo is too similar in size to me to the sell in the top right corner. My eye isn't naturally drawn through the site and these two top elements need their hierarchy sorted out. One should be more prominent than the other.

    • Next the spacing on the element on the left feels a little off. The 'Why should I try it' line is as close to the logo above as the copy below but then there is a horizontal rule between 'plus... it's FREE Try it now.' I would move the sub head 'Why should I try it?' a little lower down and put the copy it's relating to slightly closer to it. Then either separate out the plus... it's FREE line either further away or so that it lives with the copy above better.

    • The colours are great and the before & after makeovers are great although very large but at least this way you get to see them properly. Maybe though look at making them smaller and possible to click through if people want to see them bigger. That way you could have a footer which isn't quite so far down the bottom of the page and use that for FAQs, abouts and some links to maybe your professional paid for work.

I reckon they knock up a jpeg mock-up for free then the companies go 'oh wow that looks so much better than our current site!' and then pay them lots of money to code the site... ! Quite clever really.

Thanks Emma. Great feedback. We've go a few improvements on the before and after screenshots that I think you'll approve of.

    Header

Push the main tagline down below the header to cater for a possible navigation, and to clearly define the header of the website.

  • 2

    Call to Action Panel

I'd push this down below the bullet points as a horizontal row

  • 3

    Smaller Graphic

Could make the graphic a little smaller so that it lines up with the left set of bullet points. Your main tagline would site above this, likely horizontally and center aligned.

    Divider

Create some sort of clear definition between the main banner graphic, and the portfolio section. Currently, this part looks like a simple H2 following some intro content.

  • 2

    Client Name

The heading for the client name is a little strange as it doesn't cut across both screenshots. Consider extending it all the way to the right, or lose the background color and have a simple border-bottom.

    More Footer

I hope that's not the end of the footer. The top area seems to have so much effort put into it, but the footer seems like a disappointing afterthought. Even if you intend not to have a top navigation, do keep a good footer with the necessary legal info and links, about and contact information. The footer should be light text on a dark background (not unlike the CF site) for a clear definition as well.
