Here's my feedback after observing the webpage for several minutes. Please take this as constructive critiques ;)
- The colour scheme that you used looks pretty good. I do not know why but it gives this somehow cuban look (Cuba -> rum -> cocktails that I like). However I think you have used too many colours, I'm mostly referring to the small amount of blue, purple, yellow, a different yellow and the orange in the header. Also you might want to re-use the same red of your header and top-navigation in your sidebar and not this darker almost blood looking one (or you change the brighter red).
- I love big fonts on a website because they bring you exactly to those things that are important. So I think you did a good job with the recipes preview boxes. However make sure there's enough space to fit in the text because it looks a bit crowdy in there. So I would sugest to make your boxes height a bit bigger.
- I have a problem with the design of the header. In my opinion you have used a lot of these "ready-to-go" brushes which I just hate. It is possible you made these yourself ofcourse but I doubt it because you used a lot of them (also in the logo). Please be aware of the fact that these are sometimes copyrighted so at least make sure you do not get in trouble with them. Also remember the rule "less is more"! ;)
- Further I would have used more contrast in the wine glasses for your recipe ratings. Perhaps you could do something like empty glasses and filled ones? Just get more contrast betweem them.
- I am not sure about the serif font, is it possible it's times new roman or so? I would go for a sans-serif anyway...
- At last I would drop the headings of the sidebar elements. They look in my opnion too rounded while the other boxes have a corner. How about dropping them and add rectangles with the shape/colours of the navigation bar (or the darkish brown of the footer).
Oh and I agree with what has been said above about the point of visiting issue. It also looks like the web site shoots a lot of information to you. Try adding more space between boxes so your design can "breathe"! ^^
