I feel as this design is only about 5 stages from a wire-frame ?
the white on white about looks od
The glow on the background i feel makes the edges too soft
Type doesn't appear to have had any treatment.
padding seems a little wide on the left and right
1>2>3 i presume you haven't done anything on yet ?
Gradients on body bg maybe just try with a solid colour not transparent
I think this could really improve if with more consideration to the type

wireframe >> Yeah pretty good guess there. I'm new at designing (I prefer coding) but this is for a friend of mine and she needs the whole package. I'm trying to learn as much as I can so I put it up early to see if I was on a good track or not.
white>> I put the shadows around it to stand it out, but since I'm going to check out the color scheme a little more, I'll see if I can change it.
type>> It's for layout, more 'does it work being placed here', this is the first version
padding>> I think I trusted the 960 grid a little too much. I'm going to widen out and go by 'feel'
