The layout is pretty simple, but effective. I prefer the concept that splits the image in half because the marketing message stands out a bit more. However, I'd spice up this area a bit more by making the background gradient a different color than the background. In addition, I'd like to see a secondary color that would tone down the red. For example, you could keep the logo, calendar dates, and maybe the headings red, but the nav bar, phone number, and marketing message headline could be a contrasting or complimentary color. This would help make the simple design more effective.
The footer could also use some more work. Try making the entire footer gray instead of just the one line of text.
