I think you did well with the colors (based on the existing brand of the company's logo). I also like the ribbons around the menu bar and the left column.

My suggestions would be to spice up the body more. Consider slimming the left column to 33% and break the right section into a paragraph with a uniform list underneath or incorporate a row of thumbnails under the 1st paragraph or in the left column to explain "WHAT" this is.

Out of the 2 options I think the display of the banner description i like v2 better. The shadow on v1 is really rough and demanding, maybe if you use an opacity instead of the metallic look it would fit better.
