I think big images is great as it catches the users attention immediately, and especially for a restaurant you want to see how it looks before you consider even going there.
My main concern would be the horrible green colour you have placed above and below. It doesn't really compliment the food if that makes any sense?
On the homepage, the white text on top of the images looks quite lost, personally i would have made it larger and on a transparent background like you have with the three smaller sections you have below.
