You have limitations, which makes the creative process less fun. But, I would play some more with this.
Try taking the fuchsia block at the top and extending it all the way across. Then take the bold black line and start it under that block. Also try making the dates all caps and see how that works.
Or - try tying those headings to the top part of the cover. See how you have part black, part fuchsia? Maybe put the month in black and the rest in fuchsia. OR time black date pink.
I would also try putting the talk title in the pink color.
Maybe also put the people's photographs in black and white so there is less color pulling your attention. Maybe also play with the flapper and put her as a duotone matching the pink? See how that looks.
Can you get a less distracting photo of the emblem for the cover? Maybe even illustrate it? That's the only part of the cover bugging me.
