Not sure whether the volume of text is exactly what you're planning for the home page or not, however if it is, I would recommend you read Steve Krug's "Don't Make Me Think".

Take a look at any website from 37signals (basecamp) for example, and see how they attract people into their site.

People love to scan and hate to read.

If you do want to use that much text, consider shortening the paragraph length.

p.s. love the molecular diagram. For me it represents connectivity quite well.
