I don't think it works very well. It all looks a bit confused and out of order. I get what your trying to do but you need to spend more time illustrating the water.
I had an idea about your logo, tides are caused by the moon moving around the planet and pulling the water around. So you could take it quite literally and have two different sized spheres representing the earth and the moon, with the water on earth somehow being pulled towards the moon, which could look like cogs or something relevant to the other words.
Don't know if that helps, or if I just sound like I have had a few too many ales.
