I like the idea of working the J and G into the symbol but it needs more work - you loose the shape of the garment by having the letters form the garment it self.

Try using lines within the shape of the shirt to form the letters.

The typeface should also have more of a connection with the symbol or vice versa.

Overall I think you have a good start - keep going!
