Ok we are Catastrophic productions so we are supposed to be heavy ? but this art is claustrophobic.
First job would be to lighten the color scheme second make navigation font more readable,
Decide whether you are promoting Adam Goodenough or twitter ,Linkden et al.
And last but not least give me a clear reason(s) why I should follow you anywhere?
Also adam do not talk about yourself in the third person it conjures up nasty parallels.
Reading through this I see more than a little humor have I been Punked?

Robert Tipping commented:A very simple exercise which I certainly did not event is to drop the opacity on individual elements.
Opacity is an illusion and we quite rightly go up and down the scale looking for an acceptable clarity/weight what we are actually doing is changing the color of the element.
Some folks (wrongly IMO) actually use opacity to change the colors so they leave a myriad of mechanical generated color which can become a nightmare.
To rephrase as you have found your color with opacity then make it a color or your new mock ups not an opacity setting.
What I am advocating as a first step is to lighten your palette and then mock up with the new colors(which achieved as i have suggested will be heavily derivative of your original concept).
From there some kind of overall structure I use gridfox but there are many visual layout tools available for fire fox . Then scale experiment with what is large and make it small balance will change immediately but again it will be highly derivative so what ever you saw in this initially will still be there for you to turn up or down as you see fit.
Finally IMO social media icons are high impact marketing tools i would not turn my coca cola icons blue if I wished to sell the power brand i would rather keep my home made apple pie right next to that bright red draw.

Can you tell me how I can open up the design? Especially since the guy above you says it's too sparse.
Perhaps I could switch the internal links and the social media links around?
Nasty parallels to what?
I try to express some humour when I'm designing for myself. It's just who I am.
