The content below the yellow bar work really well. The stuff above the yellow bar including the bar. The light above sgmedia needs to go unless that is part of the logo. The navigation looks a little bland to me as well as the bar. The logo could also use some down scaling.

I think I would just try and add some more detail work into the header items (Shading, lines, texture, etc.). Give it a much more polished look.

Hope that helps, great start so don't move in a completely different direction. Just modify what you have.
