I like the idea of a hand twisting forth from the roots, grasping for the sky. I recommend adding a sense of volume to both the hand by painting in shadow and highlights. Also, the sky and land each have about 50% of the picture. I recommend changing that. Try changing the land/sky ratio to 1/3, either in favor of sky or land. Right now, that particular symmetry is making the picture too static.
