The color scheme along with the minimal design on the left nav bar gives this site a sleek look. Very lux. Nice.
On the inside page, however, I find the copy hard to read. I'd consider making the white area more opaque or getting rid of the transparency effect all together. Perhaps after that is adjusted, I would be more motivated to read the text.
Some other questions and thoughts I had were: 1. What happens when there is more text than fits in the space provided? 2. Is the main area of the site Flash? 3. Are there any animated effects?
Oh! I also dig on the dots at the top of the design. They remind me of flash bulbs going off at a fashion show.
It's still a pretty large image without the transparency, compared to the content.

Again the same as Eric, i would change the are toa more solid colour, it will help it be a lot more readable.
I love the background, a colleague of mine done a very similar background for a gospel singing group :P
I wouldn't worry too much about the text area being too small though, its a small company and they are unlikely to have huge amounts of text for the site.(from past experience)
I like the color, gives me a high-end feel, and since the focus is more about the clothing designs than the type, it can stay minimal. Just adjust the transparency of the background the type rests. Cool.
The design successfully portrays elegance. I like the pattern in the header and the color. The photo is very striking.
Part of me wants the links to line up more obviously with the elements in the center box, but I don't think this is a big issue. Everything is centered and that keeps it all together. There is enough white space to let everything breath.
I agree that the text is hard to read against the transparent background.
Looks good to me
I would try using a black background instead of white on your content area.
Hi !
I found this design perfect. I like the background, the colors and the big footer. Maybe you should show us one screenshot of the "Collection" section instead of the "About" section to show us the most important part, and how it's made.
5-5-5-5 You rock!
I'll play around with the collection and try to post back when I conceptialize it. Cheers.
Are you actually going to have enough "about the store" copy to fill the box? Even after paragraphs? You'll probably end up with a whole load of white space which wont look good in this case.
Try using the whole content area (the area on the first page with the photo of the woman) to display these levels down instead of having the same text-over-image template on every page. Make each page a design on its own (whilst keeping consistency throughout the site).
For blogging sections I plan to use the whole right area for content. The image will change depending on which page is displaying. I have a kewl, little display gallery I plan to use for the collection.
Tx for your comments!
Maybe the white block of text may be the wrong choice. The opacity was to maintain the "large image" theme.
The client's budget and my personal design style means No Flash. But I'm using some DHTML to make the large image fade slideshow-style.
Thx for your comments.
