This is a very simple layout, which isnt bad of course, but the simplicity needs to be complemented with some pizzaz! subtle colors and details are a must, and the typography needs a serious facelift! padding, line height, etc. I keep thinking of the Newspond site... http://www.newspond.com/ - use it for inspiration. You have long way to go my friend :).
Hope this helps.
I completely agree with both of you. I'd love to add more color, and I plan to do so in the next update. I'm also choosing a new site font. I've been considering either Tahoma, Sylfaen, or Trebuchet MS, and I'll work on the padding and line height too. Also in the next version I'll put the Google ads somewhere less intrusive. Thanks for your suggestions!
It is very un-engaging to look at, and would make some viewers like me kind of bored.
This looks more like a home-bomb-building website than a technology news blog.
There should be an image with text on the side for each entry.
There should be a new logo developed.
Colours should be introduced.
The search and login should be in the top header with an RSS feed icon leaving the left side for only recent posts and tags.
There are too many lines.
Take a look at some of the successful blogs out there for some cues. Look at Mashable.
Thanks, your "home-bomb-building" comment made me laugh :). I'm in the process of creating a new theme, and also a new logo. The new theme will include more color, and I'll try my best to include your suggestions in my next design. Thanks for the advice.
Although you are making use of HRs, all the main content still seems to run into each other.
Thank you, that's a good idea. I'll try to space the content better in the next version.
Totally agree with Zac's comments, you need colour man, all that Grey is giving me a migraine! and try and refrain from having a google advert under every heading it makes the site look cheap!
I would suggest you do a bit more research... u have alooong way to go... but you have a base so that's a good start..
