    Go basic

I have to agree, the design would be much stronger without the extra curls. Perhaps you don't need anything to emphasise their Tolkienesque songs...

Love the font, love the simple black & white.

remove gray light around text and swirl

I really like the text. But I would like the logo better if it was just completely black on white background or opposite. I don't like the gray light and the gradient background for a hard rock logo.

Agree Mattias - Lamb of God logo is a good example of how simplicity is best

    unsure

i don't think that this is a bad design, by no means. something just bugs me about the decorative circle things coming off of the text. the text looks like it could go well with the hard rock band, but the decorative additions totally screams 'gay rock band' (no offense, after all Freddy mercury was gay, and he also won a nobel prize in astrophysics) (yes, he had a phd. in astrophysics, according to a biography i saw a few weeks ago)

but anyways, loose the curly q's and i think it'll work just fine!

their songs have a story that goes with it that is kind of renassaince witches and old maps, journeys and whatnot. like a tolken story, i felt like it should try to incorporate something other than just the text to get that across, maybe the circles arnt the right thing. thanks for the feedback!

maybe an old style map-like compass in the letter 'o' ? i personally think that would help give that 'Legend of Zelda' feel (remember that game?)

Just think about printing lets say a button. In case you print this in a small size, you will probably loose a lot of those nice details in and around the type. Apart from that It's cool!

Freddy will always be with us!

    The C

Posted on Sep 05, 2009 at 2:13 PM

    Hi Thomas!

I really like your type choice and feel it is fitting to the band that you described. The only thing that seems a bit odd to me is the C and how different it is from the rest of the type edges. I say apply the same effect to the C as the rest of the type. Right now where the C is placed it reminds me of a tool ( a C-clamp.) which would be cool for a hardware store. So, maybe fool with making it being way bigger, same size and or placement?

I don't mind the swirls if they applied more to the band. I think they imply frayed string or hair curls. Maybe a back in time swirl concept or play with angled letters implying back in time. or icons fitting to the band.

This is really cool. Just post a few more versions for opinions.
