    the frame and logo

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 6:49 AM

You probably used a div with that overflows, but man does this remind me of the 90's... Get rid of that 'frame'!

I'm not a fan of the log either. It could use a better background colour.

Talking about colour, the whole two tone scheme isn't a bad idea per se, but use a NICE blue instead of something that looks like it came from a swatch in Word.

Last but not least, it looks like you need to improve your photoshop skills. The rounded corner of the logo background looks really ragged.

I'll end on a positive note though, I like the quote. But hate the fact that you didn't leave some white space on the left.

that's what I said, "you probably used a div that overflows". But it gives an iframe impression...

You're welcome! It would be better if it scrolled down continuously.

There should be a fix for the 'back button' as well, as Guilherme mentioned.

What is the purpose of the website?

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 7:56 AM

When I entered the first time on the web site, before read the description of the project, I just don't know what's the web site purpose, I get lost in the confuse design of the piece.

let's by the web site Title: It's so confuse to understand what can I do in the web site, how can this website help me? I think you must define a tagline for the website, it can help people to know the purpose of the web site.

The Design: As Daniel says, the design remember the 90's websites, the design must be rethink, following the style of the modern web design and the web 2.0 guidelines.

Dashboard: Why show the Dashboard for the visitors who's not logged in? just hide it and show only for the registered and logged members, the same words are valid to the "Notes" page too.

The Back browser button: It's just don't work, this is one of worst AJAX issues, the back button of the web browser is the most used command when a user is browsing a web site.

Thanks for your comments. Purpose of website, i will be adding a tagline soon which tells what you can do in site. And about DashBoard and Notes, i wanted to show users there are some functionalities which can be used once you register :) , now i will think about hiding it though. And about Browser button, i am going to send Microsoft/FireFox a letter to remove back button from next patch :). Will think some way on this as well. Thanks again for putting effort to give me comments.

    Extremely confusing

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 10:21 AM

The layout is confusing at best and it doesn't look like you've put much thought or actual work into it.

The logo definitely needs to change (ugly font). Also, the logo should link back to the front page.

Clicking the feedback button should open up a lightbox (like your login/register links, which were done right).

If you want people to register, give them OpenID support like conceptfeedback.com, so they won't have to enter their passwords or their e-mail address.

Your about us page STILL doesn't explain fully of what the site is about. It's riddled with grammar errors and use of overly-cliche phrases (such as "We are a team of committed individuals...").

Put "Today's quote" in the footer, as it has no relevance to the main content of the website.

If you absolutely must keep the image on the left (on the front page), put more margin between it and the main content.

    Whew.

    I don't get it

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 10:31 AM

It should be immediately obvious what the site it about. What am I supposed to do? Should I be reading the works that are there? Are you trying to encourage me to submit works of my own? Why would I want to do that? I need to know the purpose in the first few seconds I'm there.

The boxes that the articles appear in require a lot of scrolling in order to read them. And since each box contains only one story, I'd probably go ahead and expand the comments to save the user a click.

The two blue dots on the right hand side of the gray bar -- I don't understand what they're supposed to do. It looks like they jump the the gray bar to the top and bottom of the page. I'm not sure what the point of doing that is, but if those controls aren't going to have text associated with them on the screen, it would be nice to provide hover text to give the user an idea what would happen if you click them. The same holds true for the two icons above (which don't appear to do anything).

    Hope that helps some.
