    Impact font?

Posted on Sep 01, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Nice and clean ... only thing that I would question would be the font (which i think is impact) ... seems a little "Screamy" to me ... The font is so bold in itself when you make it all caps as brightly colored it just tends to be a bit overwhelming.

Overall I love the layout/design ... would maybe play with a font a little less in your face.

I will look at other typefaces that have a square feel. Yet, maybe more thinner. I will compare. Thanks for a view from your perspective.

    Make the design less expected

Posted on Sep 01, 2009 at 10:14 PM

Communicate more subtley - this design screams out that each department has a different number and a different color. Overall, the design is simplistic and only requires basic design skills to complete. You need to push your design styles beyond basic shapes and font treatments. I don't think the type is the issue here. The 1980s approach to design is holding you back....when fonts, colors and shapes were central to design. Design jobs are more competitive than ever - break outside the box.

      Yes, thank you.

I thought about adding pictures and such. I just wanted this piece to stand out from the rest and appreciate simplicity, shape, and color. A few years ago simplicity was a big focus at that college. I wanted to leave it plain so the student can put in the pics he imagined and wonder.. can I make the difference? I'm big on how color can change a mood and it's uses.

I tried to make the design a bit unexpected by following those four colors around, as is, and having it meet the 2nd page rather than just ending inside the box of the back page. ( Also, a big push at the college)

I'm so happy to receive your opinion..For, I don't want to be too far from the ages and will consider updating colors and type as the "times see fit."

Thanks for the freshen up thoughts...

Maybe (big maybe) using some outline on the letters

Wow, I love the design. The color scheme works well. Basic and bold all at once. Great work.

    I like...

your approach to this concept, but as Ben said, take a little more risk. Honestly there is no bad design unless there is lack of thought. I am still a design student, so I try to take what see and know and try to slap you in face with it (hehe!). There is nothing wrong with your design cause less is more sometimes. It would just depend on how you design the rest of the booklet to determine how engaging it would/could be. Good work.

    nice work!

you could play around with the colours, but nothing sticks out as being hideous as it is.

do you have an army of protogées turning out all of this work for you, or is this stuff you've done t/o the years? anyways, it's good stuff.
