    Nothing - this rocks.

Very nice design. I also redesigned a camp website recenlty (in fact it's posted on here too) and I like the way you addressed the unique challenges of a camp site.

    Very good job!!

LOL I guess the wood grain look is assumed with camp sites. Great job on your site. I went with a lighter tone. Mostly just becausee I already built a dark brown site recently :)

Yeah, I love the way the lighter tone worked out. Very nice.

    Beveled edges on the homepage.

Posted on Aug 31, 2009 at 1:25 PM

I love this except for what looks to be some sort of bevel edge around the calander, photos, and application "buttons" on the home page. That effect makes the design look dated and not as cool as it could.

I would play with some different ideas there.

    Overall its pretty awesome.

Thanks Daved. I'm suprised it took this long for someone to comment on the cheap PS bevel effect. I was actually going for an old "printed-tin" look but it never really turned out.

    text fonts

Posted on Sep 01, 2009 at 11:12 PM

The overall design is superb. I love it.

I agree that you need to play with various fonts and font sizes for the text - but don't change the overall design a bit. It's great!

website is good, show campjobs in home page

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 1:20 AM

Your website design is pretty good. But some of campjobs or activities should be displayed in home page. Like may be in small circle icons, icons should depict the activity and when clicked on icon it show a popup/modal window in same page with details and a picture of campjob.

    Good collage design

Posted on Sep 02, 2009 at 3:37 AM

Good collagen design. Maybe i would use less "stickers" in the top ... maybe use only one that was a mix between the round and the square one.

Another thing... try to work on the typo for the content. It's going to be really important you have good typo to engage your audience to keep reading

I think you should use a sans-serif font for the breadcrumb.

Also, some of the font sizes are too small compared to the bigger ones, and can be hard to read them (quicklinks, office info).

The photos of the main content could use a border or could be floating around paragraphs.

I like the design. It's really fresh and gives a feeling of nature. But I think it doesn't look fun. For the primary target it does the job, but for kids and teenagers it may look a little boring.

I love the colors and the nice work with the grunge effects.

    The content format

Posted on Aug 29, 2009 at 4:17 PM

I really like the design but I think the format of the content and the way you display the photos don't match and downgrade the design. :(

Thx. Content format was the last element I did...10 minutes before posting to this site. I'll ponder more.

    Make the buttons smaller

Posted on Aug 30, 2009 at 8:37 AM

Love worn look, really feels warm, not sure if I'd do the sepia photo though unless it was grunged up in a very slight way. Maybe even lomo style would work since you have so many colors going :) Lots of nice attention to detail which will go a long way...

have a greater concern in the area of content

Posted on Aug 30, 2009 at 4:10 PM

Do not have much to look at. The work seems very good. What I would do is maybe increase a little margin of main content. The text is too close to the side.

Another thing that bothers me a little are the photos centered on that area. I think these photos deserve better treatment, not consistent with the rest of the layout.

    Congratulations.

I think the 3 sub buttons are too busy and large. Maybe pull them up and make them clearer.

the way you are displaying uploaded photos

Posted on Aug 28, 2009 at 3:56 PM

Really great design, love the retro look which seems to be coming back nowadays...

i actually like the calendar events buttons etc...they make it very easy for parents and camp-goers to navigate the site.

overall a great design, but ya just maybe put a slight border around the pictures that get posted up....they seem to be just floating there.

    I like it.

Nice use of grunge edges and paint. I might make the Camp Kintail sticker a bit bigger and on the same axis as the K sticker. Also, I like the wood, but I might like it a bit better with a more weathered wood, The current wood looks a little like wood flooring. Also, a neat effect might be to mimic the sticker touch that you have incorporated so well with the images in the body, might add some consistency and add more of that playful yet rustic flavor.

    Again, I like it!!

Tx. I was afraid of over grunge if i distressed the wood too. I'll try it though.

    Very nicely executed

Posted on Aug 28, 2009 at 11:09 PM

I think you've done a great job with the collage feel. I see a lot of people trying to pull this off, but having trouble with the subtlety that's necessary. Very nice!

    Lighten the content background

Posted on Aug 29, 2009 at 10:20 AM

The content text seems to be lost in the background. Even the red headings are a bit bland. Lightening the background may give the text better contrast, similar to the sidebar navigation.

That was my same comment about the content and also on the side bar just a bit more contrast. Nicely done.

Also the three horizontal buttons Calendar, photo gallery, and Apps. Could they fit in the same space but be square and fit three across instead of three lines.
