The second one but: whitout the recycling symbol With more space between words.
Like I always say when it comes to logo, try black on white and white on black to see how it looks
In the spirit of the initiative I feel the second design works better, it has less engineered elements or perfect lines. I do however prefer the choice of colour in the first. Green is a bit generic for sustainability. I like the brown - a connection to the planet earth. Just a thought, how about taking the concept even further and printing on unusual re-used materials fromthe community?
I just wrote my client with your idea. I love it. When I saw your recycled card for Invitro it reminded me of neat card from Richard Meeneely at the flea markets in New York city. www.usbcards.net. He prints on cereal boxes.

I agree with Angela on the card design, the second brings a more earthy feel instead of being as polished as the first design. As for the logo, I would prefer the first without the recycle symbol. The symbol is unnecessary and redundant. The text needs more leading and kerning to let it breath more.
Hi Jennifer, just took a look at the cereal box business cards, LOVE THE IDEA, you have given me a thought for improving my own design. Thanks!
As the previous people said, the second version looks better, but without the recycle symbol (the name says enough, no need for standard icons). Just make more space between the words and it's fine.
For the business card, I'd start with the second design (forest green) but I'd stick with the address format you used for the previous design. It evokes a more natural and less rigid feel and the colours are pleasing to the eye without looking too saturated, corporate or bleak. Watch for typos, by the way, they're the last thing you want on a business card, i.e. "newtwork" and "...ville .com".
As for the logo, I'm not sure I really get it. Are you trying to portray a sense of community or recycling or charity or environmentalism? Other than the rotational symmetry of the design, it doesn't really make me think of sustainability.
A few things to refine your logo:
Try a friendlier font, perhaps something more geometric. The font you're utilising currently is better suited for copy. The font for "Online Network" works pretty well though.
Stick with the stacked text, as in the second usage of the logo. "Sustainable Greenville" is far too lengthy to use horizontally.
Add some padding between "Greenville" and "Online Network", as you have in the first instance of the logo. Just a smidge between "Sustainable" and "Greenville" as well.
Lose the spherical effect. It distorts everything and just makes it look awkward. Use one hand, copy and rotate it twice at 120° to achieve a professional and consistent look.
I think I finally see what you're trying to achieve with this logo and I can see the Universal Recycling Symbol fitting neatly within the negative space that the hands create, however, I'd sooner go with something like a triangular tree graphic, as sustainability is about more than just recycling.
I can definitely see this turning out to look very clean and professional. Nice job!

Nice comments.
My client wants to go back to a previous design with the text circling around the box. He wants the brown and I will use the second design so that he can have a large logo which he requested. I used Myriad pro for the font. He requested Verdana or Tahoma . I like your font comment in point one and want to know if you have a suggestion.
As far as point #2, I fixed the shape, made it a circle, but kept deformed hands, i like them. Tweaked a bit. Thanks, good suggestion.
I have posted the latest revision above based on client feedback and comments here.
I meant to answer your other question about the logo. This logo was created for a special price. One that did not include tons of research and my brainstorming. The clients ideas evolved into this logo. He want to show community and indicate the recycle sign. He blogs about all different things sustainable in our community and keeps a calendar updated about events.
I like this ... it's clean and you totally get it ... only thing i would change would be a deeper warmer richer brown ... a little more red.
also ... uprinting.com prints with soy ink and are an eco-friendly printer.
I will say that the last revs are good.
You don't need the www.
I love this card.
oh, that is a great idea to get rid of the www. Then I have room.
