Nice clean design. I'm immediately driven to choose one of the two air conditioners from the main graphic, though a few specs and price would be nice.
Footer info is nice. Not sure how many people scroll that far, but it makes for good seo value and extra content for those who want more info.
Confused by the two products repeated to the right of the logo - what would they be / do?
Firstly, isn't it supposed to be "Choose your new air conditioner"?
Also, if you're selling products of any kind, I highly recommend that you put the price tag right on the front page, as well as a button for each product specifically directing the user to the "buy product" page.
However, I like that you have your products featured prominently on the front page. You'll still need to make the "special offer" section more visible, and the latest news less.
Good job on the simple, yet elegant design. Keep working on it, and you'll have a great site on your hands.
John, you are absolutely right. I did type it incorrectly. The thing is that the site is originally in Croatian and I have translated it (or at least I tried) just for the purpose of showing it here on CF. My English is not the best, but I believe my interaction with people here will help make it better :) Those two (big) air conditioners are supposed to be links for brands (Toshiba and Mitsubishi) and by picking one of them a visitor would be taken to the brand's subpage where all prices would be stated. But it is a very nice idea to put a price on a featured product ( in the special offer section). I also agree that it would be good to make that section more promiment and the latest news little less. Thank you very, very much for your comments!
Really like this a great deal, it feels cool and airy to look at which obviously is great for the product.
Also makes what is potentially quite a boring subject interesting.
Well done.
Robert, thank you very much for the comment. It gives me a huge ammount of additional energy and motivation for continuing the work ;)
I like the concept and I definitely believe you met your objective ("fresh and light impression" and "professional"). Just a couple of picky things...you've got the toshiba and Mitsubishi logos and respective products in the middle of the page, huge, and obviously the focus of the page. Why do you need the same elements, smaller, and in the header? Seems like a valuable waste of real estate and not necessary. IMO, I'd take those out, remove the navigation from the blue bar, put nav at top right in place of the two products, and make the logo much bigger. That way, you have focus not only on the 2 products, but on the company trademark/logo as well. Rest of it is quite effective, clean, and professional. GREAT JOB!
Hi Ben, thank you for a very nice review! If it was up to me I would probably do the same. But putting those two smaller devices in the header is my client's idea. It's supposed to serve as a brand picker on every page of the site. I agree it's redundant on the homepage, but I believe it will look good on subpages. Let's say the nav will stay as it is and I would like the 'brand picker' from the header, do you maybe have a suggestion what to put there instead of it? I need to keep it for all the subpages though, that's my client's idea ;)
I'm actually stumped as to what you should put there. If I'm understanding you correctly, those images are just placeholders for now? If that's the case, maybe you should keep them there. One suggestion would be to put a "Search" form there, but that would probably need to be repeated throughout the subpages. Stuck would be the best word to describe my thoughts. Still a good site design, so really not a big deal. Good luck with it!
If I find a solution eventually, and I don't believe that will happen before the site is online, I will post it here. Thank you ;)
the header to me seems broken and disconnected. if the VEKA-ING in the top left is the company logo i woulnd't know it. it needs to be bigger to seperate it from the other two item in the header. since they are all roughly the same size the seem like they are all on the same level of importance and related, which they are not. with that said, it is a very nice stylish design. i ilke the depth that the menu bars have a lot.
Josh, I totally agree. The header defenitely needs some more work in a way you have described it. I will make the logo bigger. Thank you very much for the suggestion.
I'm not a web designer by any means, but I think this is a great design. From the perspective of a user rather than a designer, I think it's clean, organized, and user-friendly. I get the sense of "clean air" when I look at this, which is perfect!
Stephanie, your positive impression just gave me a 'huge tank of fuel' for continuing the work. Thank you for that :)
Wow, nice design and suits the business well!
I would suggest adding a Buy Now/Learn more button under each air conditioner (you choose).
Also, the news headlines don't really stand out - try increasing the size a few px.
As a side note, if I had to download a catalogue to see prices, it would be pretty inconvenient. Maybe think about creating on-site product pages? (not sure how much control you have over this though...)
Overall, nice design!
Hi Sam. The web page is not going to have any webshop capabilities, therefore a Buy Now button isn't needed. The big devices themselves are going to be linked to a particular brand (Toshiba or Mitsubishi) and it's going to be rather obvious when the website is completed - I am planning a nice 'big' hover effect for that part of site. But the idea of a call-to-action button is great, there is no doubt about that. Maybe I will put it there eventually. We'll see. As for the titles, those were already mentioned before and I will definetely make them bigger. There will be on-site product pages with prices and everything. The catalogue download is there because client wants it that way. Thank you for your suggestions!
Hi,
I liked the colors combination, white, gray and blue. But i think for a shop's website you need show more products in the index. Lasted new in a online shop isnt cool too. How want buy something dont care in read about the news. Think it. The products's photo looks a little hidden in the background. Try use a little more of contrast. But in the general i like. I think that you is going to the right way.
Hi Augusto. I am sorry for not putting an important info about the site and that is that it is not intentended to be a webshop. I other words, this is primarily a web page of a firm which sells air conditioners, therefore I think the news on a homepage do make some sense. As for the photos, I wouldn't want to mess with them too much. I use original product photos from Toshiba and Mitsubishi and the fact is that mainly air conditioners are white :) Thank you very much for your observations!
I love this design. Love the background, the colors. etc. The only problems I see are:
Are those the only two brand the company is selling?
Hey! I really like it! Very cool :>
I feel like some parts of the design are missing some space. Menu could be a bit higher (IMHO). Same thing with the ribbon where you have "Latest news", "contact info" etc.
Plus I would think of using a bit bigger headline for each news and add some more white-spaces to make it feel less crowded and clear. * Also contact info and special offer look small.
Getting off the details, it's a great design which meets its purpose.
Good job! Greetings from Poland! :)
Hi Szymon and thank you for your remarks. I agree with all that you've said and I will make some enhancements accordingly. Thanks again. Greetings from Croatia! :)
No problem! Glad to help!
God I would love to have a week or two on Croatian beaches - Great sunny country you got! :)
Hello Ted. I am very glad that the site envoked that kind of reaction because that was my intention. Those two air conditioners serve as some kind of guideposts for their brands, hence I didn't want to put any additional info on those particular devices. I completely agree with you about the footer. It doesn't hurt to have any additional info, as long as it doesn't interfere with main content in any way. Those two products in the header are my client's idea. Their purpose is the same as the one of the two big devices, but the products in the header will be visible through the whole site. We will see how that will work on a completed site. Thank you for your comments and suggestions ;)
