The idea is great, I like it.
It's definitely a great idea and well executed! I'm not sure if this will work, but you could try it: - use the normal holes in the b's to create more of an "eye" look - use italics on the b's to give their lines a bit of an eyebrow look Just so that the logo looks a little more like a face.
And maybe there should be a more recognizable size difference between the beard-iconography and the beard brothers typo. But it really is alreafy great like it is!
Thanks a lot!
As I mentioned to Lukas above, I hadn't really thought to incorporate a whole face, it was more of just the beard with 2 b's for the 2 beard brothers.
I like the idea of working the bowl of the b's into eyes. The typography was one of the hardest parts, for a few reasons. One of them being the fact that the beard itself isn't symmetrical, so getting it to look centered was a tough job.
I'll try working with the sizes a bit and see if I can't get anything to work out a little better.
Thanks for the ideas, I appreciate it!
Off the bat I love it Mitch! I initially say change nothing! But I would like to see a version the capitol b's as Lukas suggested just to see which is better.
Overall very well executed, especially the natural tones.
Thanks Ben.
I'll test out a few capitol b's and see what comes of it, it might even out the weight of the beard and the typo a little better too.
Thanks for the input, Ben!
I have to say, that I like the fact that it is not blatently a face. You are branding yourself as 'bearded brothers'. I feel that it could be completely abstract and still brand correctly. I am tired of logo's that spoon feed people. If you can see it as a face, then great! But if not, I don't see the branding value as lost.
My thoughts!
I agree with your statement there. In fact, I didn't even intend to make it a full face. The fact that people may or may not be seeing it may or may not be a bonus.
Appreciate the thoughts.
I think the rest of it is pretty great but I agree with previous comments that the bb just doesn't make a face too well. I'd like to see you add some facial features and do something more creative with that. When I first saw it, I scratched my head and that's no good.
I said a few times to earlier comments that I had no intention of the logo representing a whole face. I just wanted to convey the whole beard aspect.
But so many people have mentioned it that I'm thinking about working a little harder towards making it a face.
I'll put up a concept with the capitol b's pretty soon here.
Thanks Nate, I appreciate the feedback!
Hey Mitch,
I like the idea, but in this case It doesn't look like a face. I would try to play with the beard and drop the bb's. Is it absolutely necessary to look like a face? If the answer is yes, I would sketch one ... or play with the beard and text.
What happens if you resize it ... I'm seeing the text "brothers" disappear. Try different sizes, see how it looks. It's important for the logo to keep its integrity in both small and large formats.
Hey Zeno, I had absolutely no intent to portray a face within the logo. The 'Beard Brothers' are not actually blood brothers, but rather brothers bonded by their beards....and their business. That is why the main purpose of the logo is to put forth 'beard' and then brothers comes second, seeing as how the 'beard' in 'beard brothers' is the main image to get locked into a potential clients head.
If the logo was to be displayed at smaller sizes, the main text would obviously be left out, and for bigger displays the text would be included (the exact sizes haven't even been tinkered with yet.)
I've really got to work with this, I can definitely see why everyone is drawing out an attempt at a face...
Thanks for the feedback, it all helps!
i think instead of brown coulor it will be black for beard, and brown for the bb.... but i like the concept
I really like this idea, but I think it would be better with more of a face.
nice idea! Beard could be darker and without gradient. 'bb' could be darker too.
This image tells me nothing about what the "beard brothers" do. Sorry. Design-wise, trying to infiltrate the beard with the type is distracting and leaves me feeling disturbed. The whole idea is like a hipster inside reference of some kind that your target market in general will not "get". Too precious. Start over. Sorry to be so blunt. 5 stars for originality though, not an easy thing to come up with something new.
My first impression of the beard was a saw blade... The silver background reinforced that feel.
I think this would be a great opportunity to play up the beard in fun, flowing, creative, innovative, clean cut feel ... 2 beards for two brother maybe coming together to form a big B in the white space?
I like the type choice in sample #1.
Looks like this would be fun to work on...Good Luck!
I like the concept! Perhaps modify the points on the beard to look more like hair strands, like a lion mane. I also second Christoph with the 'b' suggestions. Other than that, looks great.
I originally started off with longer strands of more defined hair (on paper.) I ended up liking the simpler looking beard that had just enough texture to make it recognizable.
I'll transfer over a few other paper concepts to the digital side and mess around a bit.
I'll get started with those capitol b's ASAP. Thanks for the feedback, Robin!
Thank you!
I never got to working with the 'BB'. The logo isn't actually supposed to be a whole face, more focus just on the beard. Now that you mention it though, I might try adding some minor facial features just to see how it pans out.
Thanks again.
