    looks good

Posted on Aug 11, 2009 at 12:36 PM

Not too much to comment, it looks quite good. Just that the portfolio link is a bit hidden (don't you like to brag? :D ), and there's a minor misalignment on the right side (slideshow - text - photostream - footer menu).

And the down-pointing arrows are a bit too big for my taste, but that's just "de gustibus".

    Also, nice logo.

      Hey Marius,

Thank you for your feedback. The banner is going to include portfolio items and there is also a currently working on section in the homepage. The arrows are call to action buttons. We'll see if we can round them a bit.

    Nice Work

Posted on Aug 11, 2009 at 12:52 PM

zeno, really nice design. I would use the boxes on the bottom for the following instead of for flikr.

    1. portfolio
    2. customer testimonials
    3. library of great web design (not yours)
    4. Design Tips/Rules
    5. Links to design tools

Don't be afraid to give away info. Make the site (partially) a reference site for great design. It will be a testimonial to your company's commitment to great design, and put you way ahead of the pack.

      Hey Jeff,

Thanks for the inputs. We wanted to implement a blog where we share design tips and other stuff but right now this is a static site. We'll consider these in the next update when we'll hopefully move it to our (unfinished) CMS platform. Links to design tools -> I don't really see them on the homepage. The site primarily about us.

    Very clean

Overall I really like your design. I like the scrolling images, especially when you bring in the pink with text. I also like the effect you added to the navigation. Good fonts. Nice work!

The only thing I would tweak, play with, are the navigation arrows in the body. They are too bold and too square. I would play with them, maybe even make them asymmetrical to match the whimsy of the logo. or make the arrows the pink and take away the box. just some thoughts

Hey Angie, second feedback we get on these arrows. We'll see if we can round them up a bit. Thanks for your feedback!

gaps in text block (track and kern)...

Posted on Sep 03, 2009 at 1:47 AM

    Hi Dino!

I was good and read all the reviews before posting this.

    :0)

Once again I find your color choices lovely. I also find the big block over " home" refreshing.

The only suggestions that I have are:

To tweak all spacing between words where you find gaps of white space. It is overly abundant throughout the text blocks. I see you are forcing the left and right alignment on the text. when you go in and to kern and track the words, it may leave a lot of long words that need to be broken with the en dash. Only allow one at most for this little amount of text. (reword if necessary to avoid the en dash.)

In the word "Professionals" under "Eventica" there is a gap around the second s and the i hits the n.

Maybe, close up space between the words of titles just slightly.

Maybe add a subtle color difference to the links "Get to Know us" and "See our services" to separate it from the above text.

After viewing your current front page. I would also bring in the space between "Design" "&" "code" in the balloon area It is in white text against the pink).

I love the refreshing white space. It reminds me a bit of how I redesigned a magazine at school.

      Hey Amy,

Yeah, you're right the text is not yet thought of properly, we'll fix that in the final version.

About: "In the word "Professionals" under "Eventica" there is a gap around the second s and the i hits the n.", it's how the font renders in the browser there's no gap there.

Action buttons are market by downwards arrow. We'll reduce the number of action buttons to two (taking them out from flickr and twitter.

Design & Code is the logo descriptor. It's not pink but grey. You can see it properly on the site.

Thanks for your suggestions Amy! :) Z.

      Hi Zeno!

I meant when the balloon picture changes there is text presented, then the balloon, then the text...There in the pink background and white text... You will find the gaps in Design & code.

      lol

      It's like a treasure hunt.

I think it is interesting how you have the arrow buttons as is (it was just a suggestion about text color.)

      Hey Amy :)

I see what you mean ... those pictures are just for demo there ... no real banners have been thought of :)

I love treasure hunting! D: Thanks!

    Updating the corporate website

Posted on Aug 12, 2009 at 9:32 AM

I love the design and it's perfect to "sell" a Design comapany.

Regarding the dinamic sections, are you sure that you are going to update them?

Don't understand me wrong, is a great idea to add social tools and show your future clients what are you doing, but if you don't update them at the end of the day isn't going to help the company.

When you enter to a website with this kind of features and they haven't been updating it for months the meesage from the website is not positive.

If you go with them make sure that someone in the company has the responsability to update it and it's his priority besides any "urgent project".

      Hey Ivan,

Sorry for not being clear enough:

The site is static right now, but it has some dynamic sections, like friendly urls, twitter and flickr areas that are dynamically cached and updated. So these sections will be up to date.

Thing is that projects bring in revenue, while our own site does not. As we're expanding right now we need every bit of revenue to reinvest. Once we settle down, we're gonna focus on the site. But right now we want to have a decent site to present our company and portfolio. All suggestions here will be gathered and will be considered when we move the site on our own CMS.

      Thanks :)

    Originality

Posted on Aug 11, 2009 at 3:09 PM

This is such a common interface for web design company's. In fact I feel like I've seen many designs very similar to this in the past.

Not a bad thing, it just lacks originality.
