Add more interaction to the homepage...

    This is a nice start...

Make certain you there are no text heavy area on the screen. Try to use bullets and brief sentences - to keep the visitor flowing through the page.

The overall look (industrial) works - and can be enhanced by creating content modules for Ad's and news (see mock up)

    Great start!

Logo looks nice, I would however use up some of the free white space in the header area maybe with some social icons or an email/contact address.

The JQuery slider is a nice little touch and works well with the design.

The side navigation needs some filling up too, maybe with a map of where you are based.

You could also fill in the space with advert space including a banner ad at the top next to the logo and down the side you could have box adverts. Social media icons such as Facebook, Twitter, etc will look good though at the top or down the side. :P

    Make it more user orientated

Posted on Dec 14, 2010 at 7:56 AM

When visiting this site there are a couple of things i would like to know.

    • What do you do?
    • Why you and not your competitor?
    • Are you trustworthy?
    • I'am convinced. How to contact you?

For these reasons i think your homepage is way to mucht text orientated. Make room for

    • A sum up of your unique selling points.
    • Contact information or Call to action on the right.
    • Trusted brands, testimonials, certificates wich shows visitors you are a genuine company.
    • Text in the jQuery slider wich shows you what your company does.

    Hope this helps!

    Greetings.

    Hi,

This is a good start. There are however a few suggestions:

    1) The little gray banner at the top of the page looks too crowded, the text is flying out of the background. Try increasing the padding and switching to a lighter gray as it looks detached from the rest of the site.

    2) If possible, align the logo and the menu with the rest of the content. Also, If you add a little padding to each menu item, it could align perfectly with the banner and the rest of the page.

    3) I dont think you need the distinct gradient to split the banner and the content. The banner does that perfectly, so just a little white space and your good.

    4) The text in the content-area is too intense, crowded. Add some line height and try using other layout items like lists to reduce the clutter.

Good job, hope this helps. All the best. Happy holidays!!

    More Simplicity :)

    Hi Martin,

I really like your design; I think the minimalistic look fits the building sector very well.

I uploaded a picture with some slight changes I would make - removing some elements and styles, and aligning everything to a 10px grid.

I hope you find it helpful.
