    Call-to-action button and copy

Posted on Nov 10, 2010 at 1:40 PM

Let's talk about the conversion rate first. If you are going to convert visitors into buyers you'll need a call-to-action button. I would recommend you to create one or two buttons that clearly stand out. 'View App in the App Store' and 'Visit the App's Official Website' are the main actions you want the visitor to take, right?

The copy isn't very good. Please focus more on the benefits, not features. Read some books/articles about copywriting, it'll really help you to make a superb sales machine!

Also, icons in the navigation look old and clumsy. You may want to change those.

    For copywriting: http://www.copyblogger.com/copywriting-101/

Generally speaking this is a good start. You only have to fix the copy and create buttons and this will be a sales machine.

    Thanks, Lauri

Thanks for the very nice review and the great links, I'll be sure to have a look at them! I'm not sure why I didn't include call to action buttons in this preview, must have slipped my mind, but of course I'll be adding them in.

      Thanks again

Looking at the webpage initially I couldn't tell it was an App Review site. I agree come up with a new logo and the tagline should be something like "We help you Choose Aps," I think the word Reference sounds too library for me.

I really like the iPhone and yes it would be cool to have a slider on the phone to show off more screenshots of the different apps.

The copy is a bit too wordy and boring. I'd time yourself in how long it takes to read, if someone doesn't know what the app is going to do for them in 30 seconds I'm sure they will be gone.

Adding a section to the bottom "If you like this we also recommend..." and name some more apps.

All around just personalize it a bit, add some of your own thoughts, and maybe some testimonials.

    Not bad

It's not bad but as the others said I don't see the call to action anywhere.

    Consistency and style

    Hey Daniel,

The overall look is nice, but I believe you're over-using emboss and drop shadow. This makes the design "hard to swallow". The inset on the menu make is look crowded and hard to follow.

On the other hand I can't figure out what this site does when I first glance up-on it.

There are no clear call to action's and no hints of what I should do next.
