Hi Michelangelo
I'd remove the background images as it makes the copy hard to read.
Also check the alignment and spacing of elements. At the moment there doesn't seem to be much control in terms of alignment.
Also the typography needs some work to set some clear hierarchy between the different elements on the page.
For example the main menu at the top of the page looks smaller than the menu in the footer.
I think the main menu needs more substance. It's almost pushed out of the design, the way it currently sits at the top of the page. Also again the background image beneath the menu is just adding unnecessary noise.
Thanks for the comment very accurately. I expect I'll 'just that you recommend Thanks again!
Ciao Michelangelo,
I like the NEX! Am thinking of getting one myself so I can mount my LTM lenses on it.
Some comments from a UX point of view.
1) The navigation is a little lost and undefined. I suggest making it stand out more.
2) If you are publicising your photography, I would put your best image / images up front. Top part of screen - above the 'fold' to grab attention, unless you want more emphasis on the web design.
3) The search is a little lost. It's conventionally positioned close to other navigation elements as they are both about findings things that are not on the front page. I think you would need a good reason to leave it here.
4) The background image interferes with reading.
5) Your primary business aim is to get people to contact for work. Would you say this is the main purpose of this concept? If so, you need to ensure that people can make contact easily - maybe even from the front page with hidden elements (e.g., user clicks 'Contact' and they get the information in a lightbox).
6) Looking at the proper web page, the red calls to action ("Read more") jar with the background colour.
7) If photos will appear in the lower-half text, will they ever need to appear across both columns? Sometimes, thumbnails don't do justice to great pictures...
All the best & I hope this helps you.
Alan Thanks for the comment! I think that after you have made specific comments about the design proposal, I think your observation is very important Thanks!
Hi Michelangelo, just a small remark. Photography is about beautiful photos not about cameras :) Just like sculpting is about beautiful sculptures/statues not about hammers and chisels :) Keep up the good work!
