    White-Space

Posted on Nov 02, 2010 at 7:46 AM

I may be jumping the gun when I say there is a lot of white space to the right. Here you have a header area (Flickr Background) which has content using 90% of the width of the window space in your screen shot and then below there is nothing using the allocated space.

I would like to see something else added so I mocked up a simple image to show how you may or may not be able to improve the design. I might be taking too much white space away but you could tweak it. Hope it helps and that you understand where I'm coming from : )

Good luck, I will be following progress!

That's a pretty nice improvement! I'll do a redesign soon, and possibly post the changes. Thanks!

      Nicer.

Yeah I like the social icons in the header and the reduced width of the text above that. Nice to see you are not making the text wider than the other elements, it seems more pleasing to the eye now!

Still have a lot of white space above the elegant UI/quality headings so try pushing them up 30-40px. Also try making the images below those mentioned headings wider and incorporate 2 more screenshots into the image. This way you show potential users of your UI different areas of the UI. So keep the screenshot of the top left of your UI but add an image of the bottom and the actual main content area, you know areas that show its elegance even more. Then add a 1px 45 degree line to separate them up.

If your not sure what I mean by this I will work on a mockup of this possible improvement later tonight.

I'm glad I could help you and I hope you go onto great success!

Oh and the logo in the header should be the same height as the text, no overlap above or below and move the logo back up and fully into the grey area. Then add a glassy reflection below the image and use a layer mask to delete the majority of the reflection so that it seems the image is sitting on the grey area.

I'm getting carried away with suggestions lmao!

Hmm... I'm a little confused, but sounds really cool though! :D. A mockup might be nice...

Added the mockup image of the 1px 45 degree suggestion. It can be found below my original image and review.

I've added both image mockups now of what I was trying to explain. You can choose to use them or not but just wanted to lend a hand. I look forward to trying your UI/software.

Wow I'm influencing someone to adapt their design. Just remember though that if it feels right to you then follow my advice, otherwise get some other reviews and then make up your mind.

    Alignment, Layout

Posted on Nov 05, 2010 at 4:18 PM

I think all that your design needs is proper alignment and balancing in your layout.

Otherwise I like the color scheme. Dont throw out everything just fix the two.

    Too much negative space

Posted on Nov 09, 2010 at 8:20 AM

There is really such a thing as too much negative space. The design is nice ... but the website has basically no content. It looks blank.
