Hi Aliya, I like the feel you have going here, just needs to be polished.
I cant find the notes button in google chrome, So i'll just type it all here.
(top to bottom)
the navigation should be bumped up a little bit, give it like 10px of padding, on the bottom, or even better! center it vertically.
I think you could choose a fancier font for the title, something serif, just more premium, looks like a default font to me.
now my main statement was attention to detail, not that this design is detailed, but the details need detail. y'know what im sayin? I think more detailed gradients with even a bit of brushing would help out this design a lot more.
The bottoms on the slider are like the weblos symbol, just go with some casual arrows. also, get rid of the gloss.
the slider has different vertical/horizontal padding.
Pick a color scheme, the green doesnt really say anything to me, if anything it says boring.
http://www.kuler.com is a great place to get inspiration for colors.
apply the same treatment you have at the bottom of your content to the sides, give it a rough paper look, all the way around.
re-format your content, I would have two rows if signatures, 3 in each column, then push the starters and main courses down below it.
put what you want noticed first up high and big, with plenty of space.
FOOTER:
I'm sorry, but this footer is terrible.
the buttons look like they are from the nineties(yes i was alive then, good times.) lose the drop shadow and bevel, and use a wood texture or something and dodge/burn that, or just use some pre-made icons... http://www.iconfinder.net
Make the text the same font as the content, and give it more space to breathe, you could also go with a new search bar and make those social media icons smaller!!!!
add some contact info in the bottom as well, maybe a link to YOUR design website!
Good luck!
Duuuddde!!! U Rock!!!!! :-) Thank you for your detailed response. Much appreciated!! I will definitely work on all of your suggestions. N', yeah, I knew I needed to work on that footer and was thinking of adding more detail to the design. Wasn't sure about adding paper graphics to the sides, but I'll try it now!
Thanks!!!
I was gonna post a review , but Luke pretty much nailed it... Excellent review!
!-Sorry I use Google Translate ... Hello! Congratulations to the idea that you had in your artwork. I'm trying to say what I think the thing that attracts me is the cones in the four corners in my opinion, have strongly opposed setting a reflection of the colors.
Sounds like your main concern is that the lighting on the canopy and boarders are not consistent. Is that what you were trying to say? If so, then I agree. I was thinking of working on that, but didn't think it would make that much of a difference to the viewer.
Also, what did you mean by "I think you should change very nearly"?
Thanks for the input! :-)
I get the idea, Rustic. All the heading titles need some attention, its just the basic font. IMO needs a new font, possibly an thin underline for the menu sections, and I'm never a fan of having centered headings with left aligned paragraphs.
The half bg fade out is just not needed IMO, I'd make a tileable sand/stone pattern. Something light and rustic no wood.
The fluers as arrows just look silly.
The top nav again is just plain text. I could give a million suggestions but its your design.
The 3D effect on the buttons is main killer here. Maybe reverse that so they look sunk in to the footer like the search bar. Plus I'd change the orange , IMO its just ugly.
Thanks for the input!
I have already changed the arrows since this seems to put allot of people off.
As far as the font goes, I was using fonts from the "Google Font Directory" for accessibility purposes and didn't seen any others on their list that worked for a restaurant/menu. So for now the font stays, but I am working on different blending options for the text.
My only question is: which orange are you referring to? Did you mean the last background image?
I'm very happy to have been told about this site. Everyone here seems to give specific constructive advice. On other forums they just say "it's not good enough and too look at more popular designs for inspiration".
Thank you and other posters again for giving me specific issues to take into consideration!
Laters!
I'm elite btw!!! :D Thanks CF guys!
