    #1

Posted on Oct 05, 2010 at 6:53 PM

Out of these #1 is hands down the best designed, but I'm not sure if it fits the clients business.

I Love the fond.. what is it?

I really dont know what to tell you other than that, I really dont have any great ideas.. did they want a ring?

Cant wait to see where this goes!

      The font is aller display...

Thanks, they really wanted it to be memorable, so not exactly sure what they want... we'll see how it goes once I have the logo right, I start on the website...

      Thanks Luke!

Hey Aaran, I like the #3 on the new one, I think color-wise you should choose the colors based on where they are located.. If they do a lot of tropical housing tropical colors like in #3 work perfect, if they do more urban stuff go with blues/dark reds/greys.

Thanks for telling me the "fond" btw, its so nice :)

I'll be posting a new-new-new-new updated version of my site sometime tomorrow.. so watch for that :D

    it is hard too choose

Posted on Oct 05, 2010 at 7:04 PM

First of all i want to say that i think you did a very great job at designing these. I really like the first and the third, the fourth one I personally do not like. Is the logo (the circle) your idea or did they want it?

I do have some feedback on the first logo though, I think it contains too many colors. On some media the logo might not look as you want it to look, so do keep this in mind. I recommend to stick with around 3 or 4 colors max. Also keep in mind the extra costs and color possibilities of printing a logo with more colors on t-shirts, cars, etc. But out of the 3 first ones I do think I like this one the most. (i do not know why but the logo reminds me of the old Basf logo, even though it does not even look like it :P, I'm not sure if you might remember it from old radio cassettes)

The font you used is also very well chosen, it really fits. That is also probably why I do not really like the 4th logo. In the second logo the icon loses it's dominance compared to the letters, so PSL actually becomes the logo and the icon is just an addition. Which doesn't mean it becomes worse, PSL as itself without an icon could also be a great logo with that font.

Not much more feedback to give on the logo's from me, apart from that i really like them.

Thanks Mohammed, I agree with the color items, it will be hard, I might just use one color and then tints of it... choices...

Yes the 4th one is the odd one out, and personally I like the first 3, because of the way the font works...

      Thanks for the feedback!

Heya Aaran, on the new set of logo's i still feel no.1 is the best. No.2 and 3 are a bit too colorful imo and no.4 is a bit too dull. So for me the best ones are still no.1 of the new set and no.3 of the first set. I think blue is the best choice for the logo. I hope this helps! good luck mate!

I like nr.3, the blue one!

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 1:52 AM

I like nr.3 (psl_ideas.jpg) because for me it's the simple one, I mean, the graphic around the PSL is smooth and skinny :P, and doesn't create to much noise, if you understand!

So I would prefer nr.3 , and the next on my choice is 1 from pslideas2.jpg, I like how the gradient goes there!

I think the colors of PSL1 + the shape of PSL3(updated) would be really cool!

    nice collection

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 12:03 PM

Aaran - nice collection, and a tough assignment since you can't use anything relevant to the organization's mission or purpose.

That said, these are all attractive, but fall short of the goal of making an image that ties to the company's mission and would be brandable and memorable. They're all nice, but I'm not sure I'd remember any of them from day to day.

1 is a bit too "fun" for me. The pinwheel image and pink to purple don't say anything about the serious job of property management. Maybe that's part of what they said they wanted to stay away from, but I doubt they want to be perceived as lightweights.

2 works a bit better for me in terms of the type treatment, but there's still that pinwheel effect.

3 is my clear favorite from this collection. It seems serious and businesslike. I would suggest running the name along the bottom in one line instead of stacked. I also like the all caps look from #2 above - again, it's the more business-like image.

4 is interesting and the most memorable type treatment, and I would consider exploring this. Without using buildings in your design, this one says "skyline" to me. But again, not a fan of the pinwheel.

5-8 just minor variations on the same theme.

So, there you have it. I hope this is helpful.

    Draft

1 is nicely designed, however I do not feel as if it meets the target market. I think that #2 is very nice and will appeal better to the market with its calmer, cooler colours.

The circles make it look like candy.

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 3:33 PM

1 and #3 are my first choice (from the first jpg image) for the following reasons: They're both smaller and square. They are more memorable. There are less things for my mind to process. I get the acronym and the icon in one shot (vs #3 and #4 where I have to process left to right and take in the icon and then the acronym).

What I don't like about #2 and #4. I don't like the horizontal set up. It makes me think the circles should be able to stand alone without the acronyms and that wouldn't work. The circles both look like pieces of hard candy.

On the second jpg, I like #1 and #4. Both are clean, memorable, easy to identify.

On #3, the rainbow of colors is distracting. On #2, the design looks too much like a leaves.

    Expand your horizons

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 7:00 PM

I see you've done a lot of work on these and there is some workable stuff in there, but I think you need to work on a couple more completely different ideas (no rings/pinwheels).

I think that since you've posted 8 different variations on the same theme shows that it doesn't really mean anything, it's not that memorable, and you're not too thrilled with any of them (otherwise you would be crafting and perfecting 1 or 2, not 4 or 5).

So my suggestion is to pick ONE out of these and craft it, and then come up with a bunch of new completely different ideas.

Sorry if that sounded harsh :(

Anyway, my fave is #2 but it looks too much like the "pure wool" logo. I quite like the font you chose for the letters (although I find the kerning too tight). The placement of the text underneath is probably too small for most applications though.

4 isn't bad, the PSL is too tight against the rings, feels a bit uncomfortable, otherwise it's OK.

    Kerning

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 3:49 AM

    Hi Aaran

No.1 in both pages works best for me, purely from a design point of view. Unfortunately, none of them mean anything in a marketing sense.

Altho' I 'spose you could argue the circle represents "complete care", "fully rounded service" or some other nonsense.

My minor reservation is your kerning. For me, it's too tight. Have them all touching, but not quite so condensed. Particularly the S & L. The top arm of the S needs more air.

    Hope this helps.

    Integration

Posted on Oct 06, 2010 at 9:43 AM

Overall, very nicely done. I like the blue / grays but I like the integration of the circular movement around the 1 & 3. I would suggest another, combining layout with colors.
