I have to say this needs a complete redesign. because of the hole design of the website it's hard to give better rating.

Now about what you have done with the product page in contrast with what you have online now its a major improvement, it's still not enough but it's a major improvement.

I can't help you more on this because as I sad this needs a complete redesign.

I'm painfully aware that the site needs a redesign. That'll happen in a later update. For now, I'm tasked with updating the product pages. Do you have any suggestions on ways I can improve my new design (aside from the side bars/top bar/footers which will come with the new overall site design? I'm mostly looking for feedback on the stuff I'm actually already changed.

      Thanks for the response!!

well first off what you added there for the products, the tabs, it looks like jquery UI tabs, the standard design.

What I don't think will help you is using tabs with this content, because you need your users to see related items directly not after they click a tab, so I think that you should add your description next to the product and add the Related Items content under the featured product.

As I sad this is a major improvement, but still need to address the design part and the usability. It's hard to give you ideas at this point because it looks like a website from the 90's and as a designer I don't see a design with what you have changed on the product page, I see the content better arranged but no design.

I think there is to much red on the page, and I don't get what is the [-] for ..., there is no visual indicator that the areas are collapsible, there is no add to card or by item button only view item

So you still have a lot to improve, I don't know if you are a designer or not, and I don't want to offend you but at this moment this looks like it's not done by a designer or at most a beginner. Although you have improved the page a lot it's still hard to give you relevant feedback on your work as a designer.

      Thanks for the follow-up!

The original design was not done by me. I was brought in to fix it. So, you're not offending me at all by saying it looks like a design from the 90's. I totally agree and I'm working to change that. I'm basically asking about just the content block of the page.

Focusing on what you said about my changes, The [-] was supposed to be the visual indication that the categories collapse. It obviously failed at that task so I've changed it to explicitly say that the categories collapse.

These are indeed the jquery UI tabs. Good eye! I agree I'd like to see the related items up front, but our current page has that and it ends up being so busy (especially on a product like this which has a ton of related items) that people get confused.

Another aspect of this design which isn't shown off well with this particular product page is that we're planning on having other tabs like Tech Specs, MSDS sheets, technical documents, etc. It makes it much less confusing, in my opinion, to split that type of information up. I figured tabs was the best way to do that since I didn't want our pages to scroll forever.

Thanks so much for your help!

As far as E-Commerce design goes there is a ton wrong. There is soo much wrong this borders the line of e-commerce consultation not design review. We charge for this so I'm leaving my review as N/A b/c there is no design.

Thanks for looking at my design. As I said above, I know there's a lot wrong. I'm 1/2 way through a major redesign of this site which I inherited. This phase is focusing on the content of the product pages (not the menus or general design of the site, which I admit is one of the worst things I've seen for quite some time).

Do you have anything you could suggest which would help with the content block of the product page?

      Any help would be appreciated.

      Thanks!

I think the product page looks good. It is simple. You do have a ton of white space so it could be possible to display Product Details & Technical Info so that they are both visible simultaneously.

I think the discount and retail price might be displayed more prominently as well. Make it a little more clear that they are getting a deal.

Not what you solicited, but I love the product and brand drop downs on the home page. I might add a JQuery slider to the images rather than forcing the user to scroll through. The shopping cart pop out is really nice too.
