    a few things..

Posted on Sep 03, 2010 at 9:33 AM

this is getting better and u r almost there..

    • the add to basket box should be right aligned with the main description box.
    • i assume the logo on top is clikable and takes u to the homepage.
    • personally i prefer the term 'shopping cart' than what you have here - 'basket'.

      Thanks Abhishek,

Yes, I noticed the align to the right after I uploaded the image, so I've already corrected that.

      Logo is clickable.

Based on all my other ecommerce websites, basket works better than cart for the UK market, so that's what I'm going to stick with. Of course I'll split test but I'm sure basket will come out better.

Any suggestions on getting higher marks for purpose and engagement? You seem to have marked them 3 all through this website, even after implementing your suggestions each time.

      Thanks again,

      Steve

Add a little touch of padding

This is a perfect design for its purpose. A webshop with a nice and clean lay-out. It's easy to overview, I wish more webshops used a similar lay-out.

Therefore I think it's not the most original design (is it possible to design a webshop that's A: original and B: practical, I think it's hard) but it sure looks easy to use and that's the most important part.

Clean and simple, the way I like it!

      • 1Top spacing

Add a little bit of top spacing; now it seems the text is too close to the top border and the shade.

agree, it could use a bit more spacing but i think the current spacing is fine too.

      • 2Make it smaller

I think this box could be smaller. Analyse the search queries for the searched keywords and see how long they are = length of searchbox.

i think this site would have product names which would fit in that box, i suggested in previous iteration to make it bigger as i could see even the current product name is long enough.. also, making the box bigger will make it more prominent and visible to the users.

      • 3Drop the lower lines

A very personal thought but I'd drop the bottom lines, I think the lines are used between the elements, so I think the bottom ones are redundant.

this is a good idea, may be something which can be tried and look at.. the only problem could happen when u remove the lines, the bottom links would look like it may fall.

not bad attempt. I mean it's clean, straight forward and easy to navigate. But it's missing something. Not sure what, but something that gives it an edge. Try adding some secondary colors in there to liven up the site.

    Terrific improvement!

I like the changes you've incorporated throughout the layout. I might suggest a little bolder color in the before and after chart - the headline could be stronger and the colors a bit more exciting. Put Compare results: in bold and I would suggest putting it in a reversed headline so it really pops.

Tighten up the leading between lines in the Benefits and Features charts - you should have closer line spacing than you have paragraph spacing.

Otherwise, terrific improvement and good luck!
