Ivan this is outdated and I hope that you don't get offended to easily, but I just find this really dull and boring.

The colors, the design is unimaginative and basically OLD...

I suggest that you do a bit more research on some inspiring book designs, see below link:

None of these is ever going to make me pick up an encyclopedia...

Research and experiment, I would love to have this project, you really could have some serious fun with it.

Here are my thoughts about your design.

• Seems very dark, I would lighten up the colors a bit.
• The font is very out dated, Check out some cool san serif fonts on dafont.com or something
• The Blending of the images on the front could use some work too. They seem very dark and the statue looks completely out of place,
• Hopefully I'm not totally stupid, as i have never used an encylapedia, but If it has more than just archatechure in it, then add something else in, PEOPLE! ANIMALS! BUILDINGS! PLANTS!

In fact, a cool thing to do would be like On the left have a desert theme, have the pyramids, snakes, cactus

Then that fades into like an urban scene, with cool urban stuff, from there it goes into a rainforest, with monkeys and other coolio stuff, and then fades into like an ocean at the end.

Just an idea though >.>

I also feel the colors you chose dont really fit together,
