I think it's a very well balanced, well designed and very engaging layout.
I have a small remark: Boxing is about close contact with your opponent, looking him face to face. I think it's more logical, more engaging that on the front, the boxer (aka your opponent) is facing to you, as it is on the side of the box.
Other than that, it's good to go!
One thing I do like about the boxer facing away from you is the feeling it gives you of stepping into his shoes but it is lacking 'intensity'. Reading your concept 'A bead of sweat trickles down your brow', the image of two boxers face to face comes to mind. And with that you could show the emotion (and sweat) on their faces.
But going by the fact that people do like to win, how about the boxer is facing you hands in the air as the 'Champion', with the crowd around him going crazy.
I think it looks good. Is there anything in the market like it? What games will it be sold by? Will this stand out on a shelf?
Overall, good job. Like to colors used, nice balance and easy to read.
Thanx! There is nothing currently on the market like JAB. There are other realtime games, but they are more "fun", where as JAB is more like a strategy real-time game. It will be sold in hobby game stores at first, but if I'm really lucky and the community likes it, it will become more popular.
This is a great start. I think I'd like to see a version of this boxer jabbing with 1 of his arms. It will not only compliment the title of the game, but it will create more depth if the arm is pointing in toward the corner of the ring.
Do you think the company name should be more prevalent? I'd also think the opposite of the 'design by'. Shouldn't this be more subtle, maybe placed in the black bar toward the bottom of the page?
I would also consider showing a different fighter in the spine, likely in a fighters stance or boxing an opponent. If I saw this game on the shelf, I'd think the number of characters to choose to box with is limited.
Wow...I have to say that I m impressed. Good work.
Thanx,
I wondered about this aswell, but all the feedback i've received people seem to be slightly in favor of the back side. The reason people prefer this, is because the game puts the player in the roll of the boxer. You are not looking at your opponent, you are looking at yourself.
