    Hi,

I like it at first look, your design is simple and minimalistic, but however you might want to add some other features to give it a much more web 2.0 look! Let me give you some ideas:

    1. Maine Image, put there an slider! Check this link for inspiration and resources http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/jquery-image-galleries-sliders-best-of/
    2. Logo is really big there! And the Slogan is not in the right place! So you should make the logo smaller a little bit and put the Slogan under it!
    3. Interesting Nav Menu, in the example link there is a slider like this with the menus as well, you might try this is really cool!
    4. The footer is cool I might try to add some texture, like furniture white texture!

So your designs are simple but maybe to simple, you want to impress your visitors and further clients! So use some nice design techniques and resources in order to do that, impress your clients and visitors! Good luck with all that my friend!

      Hi Liviu,

Thanks for the feedback. I actually had a slider for the slideshow that I removed for minimalistic purposes. After what you are saying I will put it back in there. The slogan is on the right because I don't know what to put in it's place and I don't want the header to e lopsided. If you have any suggestions that would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

@Liviu: Please dont ever say "make this look more web 2.0" again. I hope I don't have to explain why...

I agree with Liviu. I do think having the main navigation be the slider control for the content to slide. Something kind of like this http://www.metalabdesign.com/ or this http://jqueryfordesigners.com/coda-slider-effect/ just move your tabs to where you want them and change the direction of the slide to scroll horizontally instead of vertically if you would like.

    Clean up the little bits...

Posted on Aug 31, 2010 at 7:19 AM

I like this redesign, the old website definitely need to go!

I think it's a clean, stylish and 'less is more' design. The only thing that doesn't feel right is the footer of the site. The copyright notice should be aligned to the bottom of the 'sign up' form. Now it doesn't look balanced. Also I should move the sign-up form to the right (aligned left with the picture) or make at smaller (same width as the navigation).

As a last (small) remark I should use a minimal height. Browsing through the screenshots I see the footer dancing up and down depending on the content; I should use a minimal height for the content, making the footer more visual on the same place (depending on large content of course).

      Birger,

Thanks for the review. I will try to work on some of your suggestions to make this site as good as I can. Thanks very much.

    refine the layout

I think you've done an excellent job of capturing the minimalist design quality of the furniture work into the design of the web design. A few things though that I would consider changing:

The "Representing quality office furniture." I would make it gray rather than green. The blue color used in that office photo is beautiful. I suggest not adding any clashing colors. This allows the design of the photo to speak for itself. Also if the photos will be sliding/fading to show other designs, the colors will often be different. I would also find a new placement for the "Representing.." tag line because it feels oddly placed. Perhaps right align it, make it larger and thinner and place it just above or below the photo.

Also take out the color in the left nav links. Just go with gray. Let the color of the photo (and the nice logo for that matter) speak for itself. Don't allow other colors to compete with it.

The newsletter placement also feels odd. I'm not sure of a better place to put it. But maybe below the nav on the main page? I'm unsure on that one.

    Great start.

    Like the new design but...

Posted on Sep 01, 2010 at 11:06 AM

I really like the new design. Minimalistic yes. I see they do office furniture. Is there a gallery for their products? That is a big thing when people are looking for office furniture. They need some sort of gallery or store. I do not see a link on that. Is that in the plan or scope of the project??? If not I would hit them up for that.

But in all I like the design, yes, put a slider on the homepage to showcase some of their work, and add a gallery and/or store for users. Otherwise people are not going to contact them if they don't have anything for their potential clients to look at.

    Good job.

Hey Carlos, Thanks for the feedback. They are actually a company who reps office furniture companies. I have already incorporated a slider on the slideshow so the user can select the photos they want to see. There is no gallery but on the partners page there are thumbnails of products for each manufacterer. The thumbnails will link to the appropriate site for the product.

    Site's Purpose

Posted on Feb 07, 2011 at 8:29 AM

I'm confused by the purpose of the site.

Is it to sell office furniture? Give reviews on office furniture? Consulting?

What is the target user for this site in regards to SEO?

The phrase "Representing Quality Office Furniture" is so broad to me, that I'm not sure what purpose this site serves to a user.

I'm guessing that it's not a place to buy office furniture, as there is no navigation from the home page to purchase anything, nor is there a store feature... unless I am just completely missing something.

The layout is smooth and clean. I'm a fan of simply and elegant. This does the job.

      Kevin,

The site is for a company who represents office furniture manufacturers. You can't purchase anything from the site, it will link back to the manufacturers site. The whole concept is to showcase the quality of furniture they rep.
