    SUGGESTIONS:

    1) Is it possible to give an estimate of actual $ savings based on Fuel economy of +20%? If I get rough idea about what I will be saving, it is easy for you to sell this item to me.

    2) Also, if possible, how soon can I recover the cost of this "investment"? Are there any customer data that support this? If yes, I will buy easily.

    3) You may want to place "Add to Basket" button below your last line "Buy your own diesel...button above" so that I don't have to scroll up.

    4) Is it possible to place a ribbon like "New" or "Improved" on the product image? That can cause this item to sell faster.

    5) Highlight 5 best things about this item using swoosh and put the rest of the literature below it.

    Hope this helps.

    a few things..

Posted on Aug 26, 2010 at 12:24 PM

    • the breadcrumb (home >> diesel tuning) should be moved just above the heading (Citroen Xsara..) - currently breadcrumb is located even above the logo.. should move down, the login and basket could stay on top though.
      • since we are inside 'diesel tuning' section, should that be highlighted on the nav.
      • the add to basket box should have the product name so that we know what we are buying

I agree with 2nd point. Product name should be in add to basket box.

Both great suggestions, already implemented them.

It's amazing how much you miss when it's your own work!

      Cheers!

    Some suggestions

Posted on Aug 26, 2010 at 1:21 PM

    1. Header works even if it's a bit stark. I'm having trouble with the main navigation only having 2 items? Is there a reason for this?
      1. Site width text is a bad idea. It's a long way for the eye to travel and can feel really daunting for the user. You have an opportunity for a side bar that you're losing here. Why not a cart widget? Or a "related products" widget? Or a customer comments widget?
      2. You have some nice gradients going on in the header. Carry that detail into the content area, ie the Add to Basket button.
      3. The Visa logo by itself is odd in the footer. How about tacking on a "we accept" so a user knows what it's about. And no other credit cards or forms of payment are being accepted?
      4. The chart could have a bit more excitement. I'd suggest not differentiating the color of the before and after, but pump up the after amounts instead.

      Hi Shawn,

      Thanks for the review,

There's only two items in the navigation as this is a one product site, so no more are needed.

Good idea on the side bar, I'll have to work something out where it doesn't look too cluttered.

The footer is unfinished yet as per my review description, but glad you noticed the missing card images!

How would you suggest that I 'pump' up the after column?

      Thanks again!

For the Nav, it just looks empty with only 2. What about adding Home, About and Contact just to give it some context?

Tables are hard ones to style. I just did one recently where I differentiated the column and rows titles from the values but giving the values (in this case big X's) a letterpress styling. I helped readability by throwing in some horizontal zebra striping and some vertical dotted lines. Not sure if that helps but the client liked how I treated it.
