    Header & Navigation

Posted on Aug 24, 2010 at 5:58 AM

Overall I think you have a pretty solid website here. Seems very usable. Design wise it's quite clean and sortof basic but I can imagine that's what you're aiming for.

    Issues

    1. The logo. I think it could be much more imaginative. I'm not a hundred percent sure on the lime green. Personally I think a green more similar to the 'Add to Cart' button would be better.
    2. The sub-heading is rather large and too wide. Maybe make it a little smaller and change it to a grey or white. I find it distracts from the logo quite a bit & almost makes it look like it's a part of it.
    3. Navigation bar (personally) I think is a bit too large in height & I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the uppercase large text. It looks a bit out of place. Thinking about it further I noticed that 'Diesel Tuning' & 'Cables & Accessories' combined take up over half of the bar. What if the user wishes to add more links to this bar? You would be lucky to fit two more links in there & quickly they will run out of space & things will start to get bunched up.

Other than this I do like this design. It's simple, clean and effective. Everything is laid out well and easy to come across. Well done.

I have attached a file in which I have made some changes to your design. Check it out to get more of an idea as to what I'm talking about.

      Hi Matthew,

Thanks for your review, some helpful comments there!

Regarding adding more navigation links, it's my own site so I know that no more will be needed, valid point otherwise though.

I've just uploaded a new image showing the changes, what do you think?

      Cheers,

      Steve

I like the changes a lot. It's funny how suttle changes make such a difference. Looks great now. :)

BTW I think I prefered the 'add to cart' button with the shopping cart. The shopping cart sortof identifies it as an add to cart button. Just my opinion. :)

      Great job!

    Get's the job done

I like this design. The color palette is simple and functional.

I like the logo, it well suites your market of gearheads.

The "eurostyle" square font below the logo word mark is not working AT ALL. First, this wide font makes the strapline wwaaaaay too long. Second, a strap should generally be in a cleaner serif font (futura?) for readability. Because of the length of the strap, I would consider something taller, such as Tw Cent Condensed. Also, if you really really want to stick with this square font for the strap, you really need to increase the kerning. The letters look like they are nearly touching, which absolutely does not work with a square font.

I like your add to basket box. However, it would work better if you increased the height, such that it came down so the bottom aligns with the bottom of the photo.

Other than that, the design fills it's purpose well. Good job.

      Hi Gavan,

      Good review, thanks.

Nice tip about Futura! Looks a lot better now I've changed the tagline.

I'll comment when I've updated the image.

      Cheers,

      Steve

    Is this Product Page?

Posted on Aug 25, 2010 at 6:23 AM

    Hi Steven,

This is the Product Page right? It's kind of too black and the Logo like stretch of is because of the font...

I shall use notes for further comments!

Overall looks okay just some adjustments and that should do it!

      • 1Bread Crumbs under the header

I think the bread crumbs should be under the header and loos the first arrows " >>" it doesn't make sense!

      • 2Can try here a smooth black gradient!

Did you ever think of trying here a smoother black gradient? It will give a much more greater impact!

      • 3I think this Nav Menu is too big in height!

Try to make this much more smaller in height, you must have the information on the screen without a to big scroll, you know..

      • 4This is nice!

I like the green box, it's very cool!

      • 5This are Highlight right?

I think you can put here a Title like "Highlights" and the font is too large!

      • 6Make this black color Green of Orange!

This are stuffs that you should highlight in case that the visitor or customer missed the price!

      • 7Fotter doens't look bad!

I like how you started with the footer! It's on the right way!

      • 8This should be the same text as above

You know above you have Add to Basket and here you said Add to Cart button above, it's Add to Basket above :). Details man details! And should it be green as well!

    green color box/button looks odd

Posted on Aug 25, 2010 at 1:52 AM

Change the green color of the add to basket box and button to blue. use bigger font size for product title .Change the gradient header on the product description. Use similar to the sub header. Put a visual divider in the header between free delivery and have a question...add more product images...
