Those are freaking awesome dude!
There are only two things i would change.
take off the gloss, either make it less "wavey" and have lower opacity, or take it out. it also looks a little too high. That or make the shine start from the bottom left and go to the top right, and curve downwards a little bit.
Put the word "You" above "Tube" so that you can make it bigger and more readable.
:D they are awesome! hopefully when you release them they will come with some kind of PSD so i can add my own sites logo's!
True, think it's a style thing. That's why I released one pack without gloss, at the same time Jacob from sixrevisions liked the gloss one a lot and that's the one he tweeted on to his following. To each their own, hence the double set :)
Thanks guys...
Great stuff. A few minor things:
The pepsy style glare, does not work at all.
I would say to have a rounded glare, but i'm not going to because these are supposed to be made of eroded steel.
You are currently mixing eroded steel with an "e-plastic" type material over top. Trying to merge 2 different materials together makes work look "over produced". Over producing makes something go from professional and cool looking, to tacky... like a kid who applies every photoshop filter possible.
Unfortunately with the pepsi glare you got going there, these are in the realm of cheesy. But, If you remove the pepsi glare, they would be amazing.
1 more small note: The dark areas should be probably 10% darker to increase visibility of icons. This could also be acheived simply by increasing the size of the inner shadow effect you have on them.
These would be great to offer on your blog as free to use.
I agree with the rounded glare over the current style glare.
But love them overall!
Styling of the Icons are really good, looking forward more from you
Hey Noel these are really great. Not much criticism or input to give here. My only suggestion would be to consider loosing the gloss. If you want to have a highlight, you could always just set the highlight layer to overlay, without the layer mask to make it look glossy. Somehow it just seems to clash with the idea of concrete and the grunge of it (which btw is really hard core man).
Great work!!
OH, nm - I just noticed the note that says "also without the highlight".
BTW, the texture on those icons is just brilliant. Very nice my friend.
Hi, thanks for the beautiful icons! I especially like the idea of giving them away for free ;D I like these very refined and detailed textures, that you always have in your designs. If I had to change something, I would add some dark colours to them, so that they would look more "real"...
I think the shine of the logo is a bit much and draws away from the actual logo. Other then that I think these are amazing and would definitely use these on my websites!
This is a fantastic set of icons! I can see myself using these in the future and definitely incorporating them into some sort of theme. Awesome job! You did really well!
Good Job
extremely original
but still nice and will go well with dark websites with black/grey backgrounds.
These look great at this size but they rely on alot of small details which may not work when the icons are at a 'usable' size
Very nice set, and great that you have done them without highlights so can use both sets at the same time (rollover effect) will def add this to my design resources.
Thanks and let us know if you ever do the cracked wood set as I would be keen to get my hands on that set to...
Dude you have a sweet Avatar! I have one just like it on my computer! :D
I agree with Luke on the gloss, it seems a little out of place
