You scored well on following:
1) Choice of color is excellent.
2) Happy faces of children looks perfect.
Suggestions: 1) You may want to decrease size of Tabs. They look a bit oversized.
2) Use testimonials instead of thumbnail strip of people in the bottom part. Thumbnail strip causes distraction as there are too many faces on the home page.
3) Put "Request Information" button somewhere at the place where "Play video" button is placed. This way it will be easy to find for all users. It took me sometime to find call for action button (i.e. Request Information button)
4) Green color used for the three buttons on the top is not properly visible. You may want to use a darker shade of green or some other dark color.
Overall, it was a joy seeing your site. Excellent color scheme and smiling faces :)
One more thing: What is the object of making the site more appealing to new families...is it more request for information ? higher page views ? ..accordingly place your call for action button. Make it a different color button so that it is visible as soon as the page gets loaded.
Hope this helps.
Overall, a great redesign - well done.
Start with the positives:
Areas to consider are included in the notes. All the best!

Presuming there'll be a logo dropped in here? Would be good to see it, to see how it blends with colour scheme
A little too large for my liking
I think this is too similar a colour to the block below, makes it look like they're connected. Try either a more purple colour, or possibly a subtle red.
...and why is she here? I think there's enough imagery in this panel and she could safely be removed.
Will this button/text change when I mouse over the images above? I like this bit.
A good overall strapline, but without seeing a logo my eyes are drawn here first, and I'm left thinking "what is?" Maybe it could read "Au pair childcare - a flexible, affordable solution!"
The bevelled edges on the account and info boxes have been stretched. If it's a Photoshop shape layer, press 'A' to resize the shape without warping the edges.
Your drop shadow distance needs to be set to '0' to prevent it falling off behind the blue navigation bar like this.
Thank you for reviewing this. 5) Yes, another family story will be highlighted on mouse over effect.
Hi there Marina,
Overall I think this looks great in terms of images, colour and layout.
The content is structured clearly and the navigation looks straight forward.
However, as soon as I saw this the headline and tab typography just cried out for some more attention so I've quickly mocked up something.
In my mock up I have
changed the size of the tabs and made them a little smaller. They could probably go smaller still
Made the drop shadow on the type on the tabs a little more subtle
used a different font and chosen something a bit more unique and something which to me says 'childcare' more. It's still very friendly but is not so 'same as every other website' so helping build a stronger unique identity on the web.
Pulled the main headline together a bit more. It's currently too loose and to me not type set in a way that it has enough visual structure on the page. By tightening it up, it can help hold the whole page together a bit better.
Put a place holder in for a logo.
Please feel free to ignore everything - just ideas which I had.
Dear Emma,
thank you for your extensive review. Historically (for last 20 years) we've been using Helvetica Neue font in our printed materials and logo. And I would really like to use only this font family on the page. But, as you probably know, Helvetica Neue is not a web-safe font so I insisted on substituting it with Arial as much as possible for the sake of SEO. Although there are image-replacement techniques I'm not very excited to use them, since they increase page loading time significantly (our home page is already pretty slow), there is no guarantee they will work every where, plus they are not very search-engine friendly.
I'll pass your recommendations to our designers, we'll see what they can do.
thank you again.
Helvetica neue is a lovely font but that main headline definitely needs some typographical work even if you don't change font - it really needs strengthening and making a bit tighter.
Keep it all ranged left if it is going to be in html type instead of an image as you won't be able to control it's spacing well enough otherwise. But really think design wise you'd be better off saving your main headline out as a picture - you have image behind it so just flatten the type onto this and make sure you make good use of 'alt' tags for the SEO. That way page load shouldn't be compromised or SEO
This site is looking really good. It looks easy to navigate, has a nice flow and balance, and the color are good. I also like the site map embedded in the footer - this should be very helpful for some. I have just a few comments in the annotations to consider.

Too many buttons and button look-a-likes on the page. Turn these into plain text
Where is the company name or logo?
Is this supposed to showcase an adult watching 2 children or just 3 children? Either the leftmost girl should be younger or much older
I'm not exactly sure what this section represents. Is the Available Au Pairs to the right related to these images? I'd consider a way to tighten up this area so the user knows exactly what they are looking at.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for your review. Logo has been omitted on purpose.
Au pairs are young people from abroad (19-26 years) who travel to USA to provide american families with up to 45 hours per week of personalized childcare, in exchange for the privilege of living in their home as a family member and getting an education in USA.
The splash image represents an au pair with children and bottom section represents random profiles of au pairs pre-screened by us in our overseas offices (criminal background and medical check, knowledge of English), that are waiting to matched with families.
Hi Marina!
You have a nice design here - good colours and layout overall. I have some notes for you :)
Good luck!

Looks like something is missing here. No logo?
Looks like the first one's corners are a bit different than the rest. Maybe try to distinguish them with colour rather than shape.
It looks a bit crowded, maybe some white-spaces here? And the shadow doesn't look nice - try something more subtle. Home icon could be a bit more distinguishable, dark blue maybe. And try a more standard shape
Again, these shadows look a bit messy
A bit too crowded, and boring. Maybe sections' titles with some colour and bigger font?
Copyrights and stuff should hit the bottom of the layout.
Hi Szymon,
Thank you so much for reviewing my concept.
I agree that bottom looks pretty crowded, but I really like the idea of having site map in the footer, so user can easily see where he/she is. Do you have any examples on your mind of sitemaps in the footer that don't look crowded?
Thank you, Marina
The colors are fresh and clean.
are u using any color palette... change the tabs colors ..light green and light blue dont gel side by side. The baby's picture in the right (beside tab) affects flow of the design. the picture of kids in the main banner looks good.
Looks good. Choice of images are good but the size of images is a bit concern for example, the header image is too large and that means it will increase the loading time and there are too many links in the footer. Try to add less number of links there.
I like it. A nice clean organized, cheery site - all attributes I'd want to see in a child care center.
It wouls seem to me that all of the key data/concerns/priorities are addressed and are very prominent and accessible.
Really like the case story approach.
Dear Priyadarshan,
Thank you very much for posting a review on my concept.
This homepage was a real challenge for our designers. We've been torn between two necessities:
1) to educate first-time visitors about about au pair childcare option 2) to attract those, who already familiar this au pair program, with appealing call to action
To do first, our company invested significant time, money and human resources to produce videos about families who benefited from au pair program. These videos target affinity groups, defined by our marketing team. On my opinion videos are much better then just testimonials. Since we think these videos are really important we gave them such a prominent space on a home page. This also has been reinforced with text on tabs in case visitor doesn't want to watch videos.
Speaking about second purpose of the page. We've decided that home page cannot be treated same way as landing page it's a different entity. On the landing page (and we have at least 3 dozens of those) content is really optimized around keyword or promotion, also there are no exits from the landing page except by filling out a lead form.
This is a home page and we've decided to concentrate on optimizing the content on educating user about au pair program. Only call to action we've decided to put on the page is a current promotion, which I agree is not prominent enough.
Sincerely, Marina
