    Just a tidy up...

Posted on Aug 11, 2010 at 4:40 PM

    Hi Sam,

    Nice design.

First of all, you need to sort out some spellings. It's not proffesional, but professional. Also it's employees, not emplouyees.

    Ok, here's the tidy up...

    1. What does 'Find Professionals' mean in the nav? Do you find the client people to work with or does your company do the work? If it's the latter then you could probably word that better.
    2. You could replace 'About' with a portfolio page. I would love to see what you've done before and if it's any good.
    3. Rename 'Companies worked for' to 'Companies we've worked with'.
    4. Your 'The way we work' section, doesn't really make any sense and it seems like there's no ending to it. It made me feel like there should of been something summing it all up. Clients aren't really interested in you telling them how you're talented, they would rather see what you can do, hence the need for a portfolio.
    5. I'm confused about the Live Video. How do you use live video in building the apps?
    6. There's no call to action on the page. You need something to make the potential client take the next step. An enquire now button would sort this out. Be sure to make it stand out.
    7. A contact box including your telephone number and email address is a must and a call back feature would be nice. There's currently no contact details that I can see!
    8. I like the tagline and image. It tells you straight away what you do. Although, a web app could mean anything so you may need to word that better.
    9. You may need to make the header bigger depending on the size of your logo, if you kept it the same size it would be too squashed. Unless you're using plain text for a logo of course.
    10. I would maybe merge the Testimonial box and 'Companies worked for' together, seeing as they're trying to get across the same message.

Can't really see much more. I like the colours, easy on the eye.

    Hope something helps,

    Steve

    Hi Sam,

I like the colors and the design it is clean and simple

Here is what i would change / add to this desing:

    1. A call to action button, visitors need to make an action, contact you, get a quote, sign up... it depends on your concept.
    2. The design is clean i like it, but it is not well symetric, try to keep your content edges aligned, for example the logo sshould be aligned verticaly with the iphone, ipad and pc picture and the "the way we work" box. Make a virtual line that limits your content
    3. While you are making apps i would like to see some examples, things you have done and i can see them working

That's it for now, hope it helps you. Good luck

I think the "content" of the design is very clear and to the point, the header title and devices show immediately what this company is about.

I do not like the "The way we work" part. It says nothing. Nothing that distinguishes you from the competition. Of course you claim to have talented professionals, what company would say something otherwise? And what about "using best practices to deliver best results"? Sounds way too obvious to me, no company would not follow "best practices". Everyone assumes you will do this so there is no need to mention such a thing.

The companies worked for is really good, that makes a lasting impression immediately given the big names there.

As for the visual design, I'm not as excited as the others. Before I clicked through to review this, I though...hhmmmm, looks like a standard website template. Then I clicked through and saw the "CompanyLogo" part that made me even more suspicious. Now don't get me wrong, it is ok to use such templates but the outcome is often a lack of identity. The design looks nice and clear, but it lacks an identity and authenticity.

I would change places for menu and "we build web, ...". Testimonials can go much larger, over the iphone/ipad/mac graphics.

    I like the color scheme.

    Neat

I like the web/iphone/facebook apps image as it pretty much somes up what you are offering, although there is nothing to get the visiter to click through, it would be like "thats nice, now where do i go from here?"

Try emphasis more on the different platforms in the main content or menu so that it's glaringlt obvious what works you have done for who on what platforms.

Under "The way we work" I was left looking for the = [result] part of your method. The live video part of your equation is not explained enough.

The design is workable and it definitely has purpose but the origionality and engagement needs some work.

Looks good, nice and clean/clear. Could have a little more content explaining what you do... Overall, a fairly professional looking site.

    Navigation

Posted on Aug 12, 2010 at 2:51 AM

I really like the design. Only two things I'm not so sure about is the strapline and the navigation.

The "We Build Web, iPhone, Facebook Apps - For You" seems a little bit out of place, could benefit from different colouring I think. Additionally, it took my eyes a little while to find the navigation when I hit the page, although that might just be me.

Give it a little more personality

Posted on Aug 12, 2010 at 10:13 AM

I think the design is very clean and professional looking - and since it's a mock-up, I wouldn't expect to have perfect spelling :) But, it does lack personality. It sort of looks like a million other app sites out there. I'd love to see some screenshots of different apps with a "case study" overview where the devices and testimonial are now.

I also agree that the logo and nav get lost. Maybe try to darken the header to set it off from the rest of the design. It may help once the company logo is replaced with an actual logo, too.

Overall, a very nice design. Just needs some personal touches.

Hope that helps and thanks for the chance to review!
