    a few things..

Posted on Aug 10, 2010 at 10:26 AM

this is a clean layout.. however:

    On the first step:

    • quantity and amount should be placed above total amount.

    • "Free UK Next day delivery..." and other two lines could be left aligned with tick-box image on the left.

    • remove and update icons could be together.

    On the second step:

    • the checkbox text "To add a delivery address.." is confusing. you should reword it, something like - "Please check to add a different delivery address" and have the checkbox unchecked by default. OR do what everyone else does.. have a Delivery address section and provide a checkbox called "Same as Billing Address"

    On the third step:

    • the credit card information should be taken on this review screen only, one should be able to review the order and add credit card info on the same screen- taking them to another screen adds unnecessary clicks and also, even on payment screen you will have to show the (part of) summary.

Hi, overall a clean, tidy site with a simple payment procedure. A couple of suggestions to ease the payment process:

    1. I think the 'basket', 'billing' and 'delivery & payment' breadcrumb text at the top should not be underlined when you've passed them, just not bold.
    2. On stage 1 you've right-aligned the total cost, but on stage 3 under 'delivery options' you've left-aligned it. I think it should be right-aligned throughout.
    3. I would normally expect to find the credit card details entry in stage 2, alongside address details.
    4. Consider using a different accent colour for the green 'continue' buttons to draw the eye - maybe orange?

Also, is credit/debit card the only payment option you'll be offering, or is this a work-in-progress with more options to come?

Other than that, good work =)

Weight of Type, Some Element Placements

    Hi Steven,

    Page 1:

    • Remove icon rather large. Consider a smaller icon and text but have it in red (commonly associated with "cancel")
    • Changing the quantity is a little strange. Consider a little "add more" button below the final price
    • Bring the total price up (don't leave it on a separate row). If a user has multiple items, the borders and rows might add confusion in future
    • Have all the delivery notice, etc in a separate (maybe very pale yellow) box and slightly smaller. This will call enough attention but not take up too much space as they're not critical to the actual checkout process.
    • I'd like to have the "Continue Shopping" button below the checkout but a smaller button like you've done. Its always good to solicit more sales. Now it looks a little lost on the left

    Page 2

    • General form layout is ok. My personal preference is to align labels to the right so that its nearer the input field
    • As others have indicated, the add a delivery address part is a little strange. Consider showing fields for delivery address with a checkbox above it to say "Delivery address same as billing address". On check, populate with same data from billing address

    Page 3

    • My only concern is how the entire invoice would look if you have multiple items. I'd relook into the typography, spacing and general placement of all the information.
