    Small details

Posted on Aug 09, 2010 at 4:38 AM

For the first page -> see attached img.

2nd page: - Check-box statement is really too complicated. Put the box on the left, leave it not-selected and add description "Add a different delivery address"

3th page: - Give contact, billing address and delivery address more like a box look, so these sections will be easier to separate visually (i.e. delicate borders on sections) - Notes? Maybe something that tells more to the customer what is this field for?

Anyway good luck and stick to the details! :-)

PS watching how the leaders are doing it (amazon.com) is the best way to save money on UI/UX :)

      Hi Szymon,

Thanks for your review, I've already implemented the progress bar arrows and relocated the remove item button.

The checkbox I've had a nightmare with. The shopping cart which I'm using has it hardcoded through about 10 PHP loops, so I'd have to spend hours reprogramming everything, I'll try and change the wording though.

Good idea on the boxes and notes section, I'll give it a go and see how it comes out!

I always err on the side of caution with looking at the big ecommerce sites, I'd rather split test on my own sites than just look at what others are doing.

Again, thanks for the review, really helpful!

      Steve

Glad I could help! Thx for credits! :)

One more thing: try to put a little bit more vertical white-space between the basket section and the footer, so this could be easier to scan(visually). Good luck! :)

PS what happens when someone had made an error in billing/shipping section and he is in step no 3? What about editing basket also from step no 2?

    Simple is good but..

Make sure that it looks attractive and easy to navigate through.

    1. You can work a little on the breadcrumb navigation from top left, make it more visible, put it somewhere else
    2. The Step-based purchase should be more visible, more user-friendly. Add some arrows or something like this
    3. Total price is way too on the left side, can you try to center it or place it on the left side, right below update text ( vertically aligned )

The "Delivery and Payment" seems ok but can you work a bit on "Delivery" and "Total"?

    Cheers!

      Hi Ciprian,

      Thanks for your review.

      1. Yep, will try to do something with that!
      2. Already done that after Szymon's suggestion, thanks for backing it up.
      3. You've hit a good nerve here, I'll try to align it better.

      Thanks again,

      Steve

Maintain the visual throughout the entire transaction

Given that the product is very technical, I think that the image of the product can more prominent and presented with extra style. It can also be present throughout the entire purchasing process till checkout.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, could you explain?

Now you've updated your review I can understand a bit more. I'm not sure what benefit it would be to get them through the checkout quicker though. I haven't seen the product image all the way through the checkout on any ecommerce website I've purchased from.
