    Way Cool

Posted on Aug 04, 2010 at 8:41 PM

    Hi Julio,

i want to start out by saying this site looks fantastic. I think its got a cool grungy look to it, but is also not too messy.

Very clean look and very well executed.

Here is the only thing i think NEEDS help

    1. Weird spacing in the header. especially the navigation. Add some more padding under the navigation, also I think there should be a portfolio or gallery page, since i dont exactly know where to click to check out his stuff.

Here are some of my ideas:

    1. Make the images on the front page black and white (or have them tinted similar colors as the background, then when you rollover them, the semi-transparent bar floats up to he top and the image behind goes full color.
    2. The Read More arrow needs some work. It looks really boring and weird compared to the rest of the site. Also the color seems to really drop off near the bottom, purhaps adding some headers with a cool orange paint swipe would bring some color the the bottom.

Also, this is just and after thought, but the colors used seem just a tad girly to me. I dont know if im the only one, but. the pastel colors make me think of a girl. :|

although just by switching the colors a little bit you should be fine.

    Good luck!

    Make logo and description bigger

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 12:54 AM

    Hi Julio,

I think you have done a great job on this design. I especially like the 'textured background' as it really adds interest.

One suggestion though would be to increase the size of the logo and description as I think it is being lost at the moment. It really is the most important element on the page so make it stand out!

    Good luck,

    Ross

    Nice Start

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 1:13 PM

I like the overall idea and feeling of this site. Interested to see what the other pages will look like. I like how you handled the social networking buttons. Although they are larger than your main navigation.

The font you are using for the logo and navigation is hard to read. The lowercase s is really what is buggy me. Also the orange text on the pale orange background is fading out your main navigation. If you are going to have a Home button make it the same size of your other main navigation buttons. It makes the whole main navigation look not centered or something.

I like how the services are handled, but I would try just alternating the height between them. So Corporate and Wedding would like up with each other just like Private and Others. Unless Weddings is more important then the others.

I understand why the pen, pencil and coffee are there, but the coffee seems to stick out. Not sure if it is needed or maybe there is something better to use.

Definitely work on the colors and contrast a bit more. Looking good though.

    Navigation

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 3:13 PM

Overall I like this concept. I really like the background and the bottom half of the page the most. However, I think the font used in the navigation is just too playful. Especially if one of the target markets is corporate. I think the 4 calls to action are just below the navigation could use some color changes to match a more uniform palette. The text on the 4 images (corporate, private, weddings, others) seems inconsistent to me. Its good to experiment with ideas like that, but I think for the purpose of this site, that section could use more tasteful labeling. Keep up the good work Julio!

Felix picture to stodgy in comparison to artsy site

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 3:37 PM

I was somewhat riveted on the top 4 Images of this page I really like them a lot the overall page is interesting but the Felix photo seems a little out of place except for the word Corporate.

To my own taste (and in fairness i use non of these services)the face book twitter flikr logo's seem a little to pronounced IMO they could be gracefully reduced in size and prominence and those who care would still find them.

It has occurred to me as I review there is somewhat of a disconnect between the top and bottom of the site the top being "floral"(Logo/Mark' and weddings)Like it lots.

And the bottom which gets a little "photshop tutorial top 10" what ever inspired the former should be allowed the run of the page it really is quite inspired.

    Main Graphic

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 1:07 AM

    Hi Julio,

Overall nice looking site with suitable colors. As others have pointed out, might want to have the logo stand out a little more.

My main comments are with regards to the main graphic (banner):

    • doesn't look clickable (or is it supposed to be clicked?)
    • if it is meant to be clickable, include a strong call-to-action button to direct the user
    • a little more intro text for each type of function to further offer a unique selling point of your client's as compared to his competitors
    • instead of squeezing all 4 sections together, might want to introduce tabs or some form of rotating banners. This allows you to showcase the nice photography that you have, as well as provide more space for text and buttons. I'm thinking of something like https://aim.nextjump.com/ or http://expressionengine.com/

I personally like the four seporate images. to me it shows how many different services he offers, and they arent like to thin.

    Draft

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 7:47 AM

    Hi Julio,

I would suggest to reduce the length of the top banner as they are huge. The menu is nicely spaced out as its seems to be a small site.

its a very small website that's why I made the images big to fill in space. The client doesn't have much content and images. So making the best with what I have =)
