    The photography/back

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 1:49 AM

I really like the Web Design card as it is. Everything about it strikes me as rich, corporate, modern, clean... all of the things I expect you'd want people to see. I like that you've visualised the Spot UV so that everyone has a feel for how that'll appear. :) No doubt that would have sparked a whole bunch of comment if you hadn't.

The photos bit, I don't like. It looks too messy the way it's put together at the moment, and doesn't seem to match with the brand on the front. The front is spacious and clean whereas the back is pretty much the opposite, it's cluttered and messy, and very difficult to show off your work. I assume those are your photos on the back? If they are, they don't show your work off, as it looks like someone has taken a load of photos from a stock photography website and thrown them together into a grid.

Have you considered getting a folding business card (perhaps 3-fold)? Particularly if you're looking to have 2 different styles of business card, one web and one photography anyway. This way your back would have 5x the amount of space to showcase your photos on, perhaps framing them in something that fits closer to the brand you're establishing on the front of the card.

I would avoid the Spot UV on the photography card also, it's adding more complexity to something that is already visually complex.

All that being said... the photography card may reflect you and your personality... so my suggestion would be to take the photography card to some of your current/previous customers and ask them for a few minutes of their time, to let you know whether they felt (first impressions) that your business card reflects you, and the way you do business.

Sorry if my review seems overall negative... I really like the web design one, but I'm not too keen on the photography one.

      Hi Kurt,

No need to apologize, it's a site designed to criticize :) On a more serious note, all valid points and well explained. I really like the folded card idea and will check it out!

      Thanks again,

      Noel

    Alignment

Hey Noel, first of all I wanna say that your work is awsome!

The card is great! Not much to be said, i would just change the text alignment to the left, it would work better, at least for me.

    Regards

    Spot UV

Posted on Aug 04, 2010 at 5:22 PM

    Hey Noel

I really like this concept, but think what would look better would be to remove the red from the spot UV front, and add that spot UV over the photographs front of business card...

Do that and then it will look bloody cool!

    Great work!
