    Hi Yannis,

I've think you've done a pretty good job of laying out the various elements. The big call to action is helpful. Here some comments:

    1. The Video - Not sure which flash player you're using, but change the background of it (so that we're seeing a solid color with a couple words as opposed to a whole desktop). Also increase the dimensions, it's tiny, shoot up for 480 HD or similar.
    2. I think "How Remote Usability Testing Works?" and the diagram to the right could be merged in a more efficient manner, thus leaving space for consumer testimonials above the fold.
    3. The buttons outside the main content window (Register as Buyer, etc.) are quite hard to read, I'd increase the contrast there.
    4. Couple of Alignment Fixes: Logo/Nav are could be compacted some more vertically, and the navbar centered downwards more.
    5. Streamline the typography, you have bold, italic, bold italic? Various sizes and colors. I'd settle for a couple of standards.

Good luck with the site, agreed that it looks better than the previous!

    Cheers

    Noel

    Liven it up

I still don't think that the site is REALLY capturing the essence of what you guys actually deliver. Its obvious that you do something related to real user usability testing, but what exactly do you deliver?

What do I need to come to you with and what do I get out of it? I suppose the video may explain this but you can't rely on the video to do all of this as not everyone will want to watch the video.

The content focuses a lot on this 3 step process: 1. Build the site 2. Test the site 3. Discover the problems

So where does your site step in to this process. All 3 steps, 1 step? 2 steps? With a title like "How Remote Usability Testing Works", It isn't even clear if this information is simply to educate the user on good usability testing practices or if it is actually related to your deliverables.

Still confused about what you were truly offering, I went to visit the current website and I figured out what your service was all about in no more than 5 seconds. So unfortunately, I feel that the current website does a better job of describing what the site is about.

My recommendation: Have another think about the content that is going on the home page. Place more focus on the actual deliverable that the client will get at the end of everything.

Dont worry so much about telling the client about the process of usability testing on a high level. The fact that they are visiting a website delivering usability services means that they already have some grasp of this.

Instead of focusing on the usability testing process as a whole, focus on the process that occurs from when the client starts with your service to when they finish. What do they have at the start, what do they end up with and what happened in the middle to make this happen?

On a side note I really need to comment about the links at the top ( register as buyer, register as tester, login). The links to 'buy tests' and 'become a tester' on the current website were a big clue to me which gave away what the website is all about. Now these important clues are hidden away in the top corner in impossible to read text. Of course a website offering usability services should also know a lot about accessibility standards. Beige text on beige background?

    Process

Posted on Aug 04, 2010 at 9:52 PM

    Hi Yannis,

My biggest concern with the site is the process. Build, Test, Discover doesn't really explain the usability testing process. In addition, the first step in your process is "Build" which may make users think that would also help build their sites. It may make more sense to change the process to something like the following:

    1. Test the Site
    2. Fix Problems
    3. Improve the Site

Search I mentioned this in the notes added to the image, but I really can't stress it enough. The current search bar does not make much sense. If it is supposed to be a dropdown could you please explain the functionality and a use-case? Otherwise, please remove the down arrow and add a search button.

F.A.Qs Rename to just F.A.Qs. You can't pay testers without buyers. By stating "for testers" you seem to be saying that you are not interested in the buyer's questions.

I really like the purpose and layout of the website. So many websites would be a lot better if people took the time to do a few simple sessions of user testing.

You've definately done a good job of informing the user what your site is about. But, I think the design needs a little more work to be trustworthy. Please let me know if I have been at all unclear in this review.

    Great work so far.

      • 1Hard to Read

Remove the text effects here. It is only making this section hard to read.

      • 2Why is this a dropdown?

I'm assuming this is supposed to be a search box. If so, remove the down arrow at the right. Also add a search button to the left of it.

      • 3Learn more

Users may be interested in learning more about the service before giving it a shot. It would be helpful to provide a smaller "Learn More" button next to Try it Now!

      • 4Rethink wording

Cheap and Quick tend to imply something was not done thoroughly. Perhaps you could use Affordable and Accurate.

      • 5Swap this process with the video above.

This image help explain what your site is about more than the video above it. Chances are people won't watch the video, but the will see this picture. Switch the places of this process and the video.

      • 6Tagline

Adding a tagline to the logo can go a long way to help a new user understand what the website is about. Adding something like "Reliable user testing" could really help.

    Repeating yourself...

Posted on Aug 05, 2010 at 8:54 AM

I really like the idea of your site.

In the blue box: "See though the users' eyes the things that stop your visitors from buying what you sell." Jerks around a bit for me. Maybe "Use your user's eyes to see what's keeping visitors from buying what you sell."

The bit below the blue is repetitive. I don't think you need both the graphic and the text.

I suggest combining them, use the title, use the info graphic, and see if you can incorporate a small summary under the title for each part of the cycle (<= 5-6 words).

Something like: Build the Site: Create your site Test the Site: Users check your work Discover Problems: Users Report back

My descriptions could use some refinement, but you get the idea.

You could go into greater depth using a "Learn More" screen as suggested by Joe Karayusuf. I would suggest the "Learn More" screen be some sort of a pop-over (like light box) which a user can easily close and get back to what they were doing.

Hi Yannis, I like the content brevity approach. I think the design has a (pre-purchased template) feel. That may not be an issue for most. The CTA color (try it now) button is good. My eyes jumped right to it The video? Hmmm. Not sure that this is the best place for it. Consider a rotating javascript hero-area banner (HTML 5) and have each panel call out a different feature of service that you offer. The vid (to me) is a right column widget. The "Remote Usability Testing" diagram could be a little tighter. The three areas have a quasi-button appearance. Still, the point is made. I would seriously consider tightening up the content. Does "Multilingual" merit first position in service proposition? How about "Remote Usability Testing made Affordable, Quick and Painless"? Multilingual can be a bullet-point item with other (needed but now missing) bulleted features. I don't mean to come across hard. It is very well executed. I'm just being picky

If I where on your team I would suggest stripping this down ridiculously (Think original Google page)and building it up again piece by piece and Absolutely painstakingly ask whether it is necessary to have - (more stuff) and by necessary i mean does it help get people using my service.

nice concept, not sure about the use of colour.

maybe use some calming colours to embue caring, definitely lose the 'cheap, quick'. you want to promote your professional ability not how cheap you are. if you're the best people will overlook the price.
