    The fonts...

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 at 3:17 PM

I agree with Joel that the images are quite nice. However the fonts feel 'cheap'. I do not like the large Realty font. The width of the 'T' looks odd to me.

Good choice on the description font below 'Jump Into Summer'. I would like to see a brighter image for the Summer issue, it just doesn't seem to give off enough energy.

Really good job on the Tax Credit issue.

Keep pegging away at it Jon, really good stuff! I'll be looking for more work from you.

Do like the fons but not for a cover. It's too "I love the 80's" Also the yellow is too yellow

    Fonts / Drop shadow

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 at 3:55 PM

Really heavy handed on the drop shadow use. The fonts really feel random and not like something that would talk together.

The black line under the reality press title is a little strange. Maybe use a thicker horizontal line that goes from one edge of the magazine to the next?

Not bad for a free product, but definitely has room for improvement.

Nothing really stands out to me.

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 at 2:46 PM

Not bad work, but not much really stands out to me. Plus the drop shadows are a bit strong on your sub title. I would also put more of a margin around the whole piece.

The photography is excellent! Beautiful images. Maybe it's the drop shadows, they seem to be competing for attention with the images.

But again, not bad work at all. Just my 2 cents.

Move the "T" in REALTY to the left just a hair

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 at 10:33 PM

also I wouldn't use a heavy drop shadow, have you tried blending the magazine title, instead of having it stand out? I would try using less fonts as well, maybe stick to 3 maybe 4 tops.

Otherwise looks good, my favorite is the May issue.

I would use more contemporaray fonts

Posted on Jul 31, 2009 at 11:03 PM

I think the photos are great - though the tax credit issue is a little crowded for my tastes,

All of the fonts seem dated to me - big fat 80's style fonts - the drop shadows dont really bother me so much - but they do take away a bit from the photos underneath. Id do away with the black line all together.

    Magazine Title

Posted on Aug 01, 2009 at 1:03 AM

I really don't like the magazine title with various orientations and font sizes, there too much different font types, the drop shadows are too heavy.

I like the photos, and the footer (I know it's not a site, I can't name it in another way)

    shadow subtext is too strong

Posted on Aug 01, 2009 at 4:09 PM

i would space out the text apart from eachother differently

the logo is squashed, the subtext is pulled apart. i would just spend a little more time on it.

    work more on fonts

Posted on Aug 03, 2009 at 9:38 AM

less drop shadows, more original fonts (keeping the style but fresh). the picture selection are excellent, support on that to create a font.

    I like the first one

Posted on Aug 03, 2009 at 1:41 PM

The fonts could feel better and the kerning could be better especially on the word PRESS.

I like the one with the kid jumping in the water. The photography and colors feel great however the words JUMP INTO don't really pop and its an action

something about the text summer doesn't quite fit in.
